Dompet Dhuafa and FEBI UIN Sultan Maulana Hasanuddin Launch Container Canteen Program in Banten for Entrepreneurial Students

SERANG, BANTEN — Following the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signing for the Container Canteen Program last October, Dompet Dhuafa, through its Banten Branch, celebrated the grand launch of the UIN Sultan Maulana Hasanuddin (SMH) Banten Container Canteen on Tuesday (5/12/2023).

The Container Canteen Program is an entrepreneurship scholarship initiative in collaboration between Dompet Dhuafa, the Zakat and Charity Funds Management Unit (UPZDK) of Permata Bank Syariah, and the Faculty of Islamic Business Economy at UIN Sultan Maulana Hasanuddin Banten.

The inauguration of this entrepreneurial program was graced by the Rector of UIN Sultan Maulana Hasanuddin Banten, Wawan Wahyuddin; the Dean of the Faculty of Islamic Business Economy at UIN SMH Banten, Nihyatul Masykuroh; the Vice Chairman of UPZDK Permata Bank Syariah, Awaludin Gumbira; the GM of Economic Empowerment and Independence at Dompet Dhuafa, Udhi Tri Kurniawan; the Branch Manager of Dompet Dhuafa Banten, Mokhlas Pidono; representatives of Dompet Dhuafa Banten, and lecturers from UIN Sultan Maulana Hasanuddin Banten.

The grand launch ceremony featured the symbolic signing of the collaboration plaque and ribbon-cutting by the Rector of UIN SMH Banten, the Vice Chairman of UPZDK Permata Bank Syariah, and the Branch Manager of Dompet Dhuafa Banten. Additionally, the event showcased creative performances by students from FEBI UIN SMH Banten.

Nihayatul Masykuroh, the Dean of FEBI UIN SMH Banten, expressed gratitude for the collaboration and emphasized in her speech that graduates of the Faculty of Islamic Business Economy must possess entrepreneurial skills.

“Thank you. FEBI students benefiting from the Container Canteen have been guided by Dompet Dhuafa in entrepreneurship. FEBI graduates should not only engage in business but also have entrepreneurial skills,” she stated.

Udhi Tri Kurniawan, GM of Economic Empowerment at Dompet Dhuafa, hoped that this entrepreneurial program would bring many benefits to the students.

“Dompet Dhuafa hopes the Container Canteen Program can provide significant benefits to the students benefiting from this entrepreneurship scholarship program,” said Udhi.

Moreover, Udhi mentioned that the Container Canteen Program has been conducted by Dompet Dhuafa since 2016, with a commitment to continually support the program’s development.

“The container program first started in 2016. Dompet Dhuafa hopes this Container Canteen Program collaboration can be sustained long-term. And Dompet Dhuafa promises to continually support this program,” added Udhi.

Awaludin Gumbira, Vice Chairman of UPZDK Permata Bank Syariah, reminded in his speech that the canteen’s transactions should be conducted according to Sharia principles and Islamic guidelines.

“This program aligns with our focus: Sharia transactions. Hopefully, this canteen can serve as an example of transactions based on Sharia principles and laws,” Awaludin stated.

Before the program’s official inauguration, the Rector of UIN Sultan Maulana Hasanuddin Banten, Wawan Wahyuddin, emphasized that students should emulate Prophet Muhammad’s characteristics in conducting transactions and living their lives.

“Students should apply the principles of truthfulness, sincerity, trustworthiness, and intelligence (STAF) in running the Container Canteen in their daily lives. May this program provide a valuable entrepreneurial experience,” he concluded. (Dompet Dhuafa/Banten/ADP)
