Dompet Dhuafa and LEKA Distribute Hundreds of Food Packages to Remote Communities in Bogor

BOGOR — A brand producing cleaning and health products, LEKA Indonesia has partnered with Dompet Dhuafa for charitable initiatives. This time, on Friday (September 23, 2022), Dompet Dhuafa and LEKA Indonesia visited the community of Cigudeg Subdistrict, Bogor Regency.

The purpose was to distribute 100 food packages to the residents there. The distribution of the packages was carried out by gathering residents at two locations, namely SDN Cipangaur, Cintamanik Village, Cigudeg District, and Musala Al Istiqomah Kampung Pasir Angin, Wargajaya Village, Cigudeg.

In reality, access was not easy. The distribution team had to traverse steep and rugged roads to reach the locations. To make matters worse, the conditions were slippery due to the rain.

Upon arrival at the location, the residents of Cigudeg were already eagerly waiting to welcome the team. Many who were supposed to go to the fields to farm had to pause their work to receive the food aid from LEKA and Dompet Dhuafa. Marketing Partnership Specialist at Dompet Dhuafa, Vini Hidayani, said that the selection of Cigudeg as the distribution target was not without reason. After going through an assessment process conducted by the Community Service Agency (LPM) team of Dompet Dhuafa, the residents of Cigudeg were classified as a community with low economic conditions. With the majority of residents working as farmers or farm laborers, they often struggle to meet their daily needs.

Pak Ukat, the head of RW 12 in Cintamanik Village, expressed his gratitude on behalf of the community for the generosity of Dompet Dhuafa and LEKA. According to him, the food aid is very beneficial and much needed by the residents of Cigudeg. The majority of the residents are farm workers and laborers.

“Most of the residents here are farmers, but the land belongs to others. That means farm laborers. Some also work as porters. Economically speaking, they are indeed below average. If no one hires them as laborers, they have no work. Alhamdulillah, the food aid from Dompet Dhuafa and LEKA is a great help to the community here,” said the RW 3 chairman who has served for three terms.

In line with Mr. RW, Sanah (70), one of the beneficiaries, told the Dompet Dhuafa team after the distribution that the food package assistance would be very useful for her, as she now lives alone in her home. The widow, who resides in Kampung Pasir Angin, Wargajaya Village, Cigudeg District, identified herself as a farmworker. Her six children have all started their own families, while her husband passed away long ago.

“Thank you for the food assistance from Dompet Dhuafa and LEKA Indonesia. May we all continue to be granted good health and abundant blessings,” she said.

Intan Lestari, GA Division of LEKA Indonesia, responded very positively to this food package distribution initiative. She stated that this initiative was a unique experience for LEKA. Although LEKA had previously conducted similar initiatives, the involvement of Dompet Dhuafa greatly assisted in ensuring that the assistance was distributed to the intended recipients.

“This initiative has certainly been a unique experience for LEKA. What sets it apart is that this time, LEKA did not act alone but was accompanied by Dompet Dhuafa, who truly understands the conditions of those in genuine need. As a result, the program we hoped for reached its intended beneficiaries. Our hope for the recipients is that, even though what we can provide is limited, it may bring benefit to them and their families,” she concluded. (Dompet Dhuafa / Muthohar)
