NORTH SUMATRA — Dompet Dhuafa appointed Sultan Deli XIV, Sultan Mahmud Aria Lamantjiji Perkasa Alam Shah, as Ambassador of Zakat and Waqf. The appointment was made by the Director of Social, Humanitarian, and Da’wah Programs, KH Ahmad Shonhaji, accompanied by the Head of the Dompet Dhuafa Waspada Branch, Sulaiman, during a meeting at Maimun Palace on Monday (September 29, 2025).
KH Ahmad Shonhaji said that this appointment was made in order to spread da’wah, especially in North Sumatra.
“Inviting young people to learn about da’wah requires an approach, and one way to do that is through culture. Today, we invite the Sultan to join us in this da’wah by becoming an Ambassador for Dompet Dhuafa,” he said.

The invitation was warmly welcomed by Sultan Mahmud Aria Lamantjiji Perkasa Alam Shah. He said he was proud to be part of Dompet Dhuafa.
“I have wanted to build a relationship with Dompet Dhuafa for a long time. Who would have thought that today we would meet, and I am very happy to be an ambassador to encourage people to do good. I will definitely invite my friends to support this good cause through alms and waqf,” he said.
Through this meeting, Sultan Mahmud Aria also hopes that the sultanate and Dompet Dhuafa can harmonize their programs for the good of the people.

On the same occasion, Sulaiman, Head of the Dompet Dhuafa Waspada Branch, explained several Dompet Dhuafa programs currently being implemented in North Sumatra.
“Here, we are running several programs in various fields, ranging from education and da’wah, economic empowerment, social humanitarianism, and health. Of course, we need to discuss what programs we can synergize together,” he said.

With the appointment of the 14th Sultan of Deli as the Ambassador of Zakat and Waqf, Sulaiman also hopes that this will increase public awareness of zakat and waqf.
“We sincerely hope that with the appointment of the Sultan, more people will give zakat and waqf at Dompet Dhuafa North Sumatra. Thus, more people in North Sumatra can benefit from zakat and waqf,” he said. (Dompet Dhuafa)
