SOUTH SUMATRA — Dompet Dhuafa South Sumatra through the Layanan Kesehatan Cuma-Cuma (LKC ) also celebrated the 60th National Health Day (HKN) in the Healthy Area of Pagar Dewa Village, Lengkiti, Ogan Komering Ulu Regency, on 21-22 November 2024. With the theme ‘Gerak Bersama, Sehat Bersama’, the series of events included mass gymnastics, Handwashing with Soap (CTPS) education, free blood type checks, and the provision of nutrition packages to exclusive breastfeeding mothers and toddlers with malnutrition status.
On the first day, the activity began with CTPS education and blood group checking with the target participants being students in grades 4, 5, and 6 at SDN 10 Tanjung Agung. A total of 72 students enthusiastically followed the material delivered in a fun way, using simple analogies and songs and movements. After that, they also took part in blood type checks which attracted their interest.
In addition, according to data from the Ogan Komering Ulu District Health Office published by the Central Bureau of Statistics Ogan Komering Ulu District in 2023, there were cases of the top 10 diseases in the region. Among others:
- Influeza as many as 11,645 cases
- Gastritis with 10,803 cases
- Essential Hypertension as many as 8,073 cases
- Rheumatoid Athritis (Rheumatism) as many as 4,057 cases
- Diarrhoea without Dehydration 2,287 cases
- ARI as many as 2,147 cases
- Allergic Contact Dermatitis 1,849 cases
- Migraine (Cephulgia) as many as 1,316 cases
- Allergic Conjunctivities as many as 1,278 cases
- Diabetes Mellitus 1&2 as many as 964 cases
Elwi Sahara, a teacher at National Elementary School 10 Tanjung Agung, said ‘We are very happy that Dompet Dhuafa organised this kind of educational activity. Moreover, blood type checks have never been held at our school. We are ready to collaborate for further activities’.
On the second day, the event continued with mass gymnastics which was attended by the community, especially the elderly, as well as teachers and students of National Elementary School 10 Tanjung Agung, with a total of 212 participants. In addition, nutrition packages were given to 9 exclusive breastfeeding mothers and 14 under-fives with malnutrition status at the Polindes.
The celebration in Pagar Dewa involved various age groups, ranging from toddlers to the elderly, with a total of 319 beneficiaries. It is hoped that the 60th HKN commemoration can become a momentum to increase mutual awareness about the importance of maintaining health and living a better lifestyle for the future. (Dompet Dhuafa)
