Dompet Dhuafa Collaborates with the Pasar Minggu Subdistrict Community Health Center to Boost Community Immunity Through Booster Vaccinations

JAKARTA —— Given the recent resurgence in COVID-19 cases due to the emergence of the new Omicron variant, the public must once again wear masks properly and strictly adhere to health protocols in their daily activities. To address this surge, the government is encouraging the public to receive a third dose—or booster shot—to further strengthen their immunity.

From the very beginning, Dompet Dhuafa has been committed to playing a role in combating the COVID-19 pandemic in Indonesia, including by organizing a booster vaccination drive in collaboration with the Pasar Minggu Subdistrict Public Health Center at the Dompet Dhuafa Philanthropy Building in Jati Padang Village, Pasar Minggu Subdistrict, South Jakarta. This event took place over three days—March 1, 2, and 4, 2022—administering 200 doses each day.

As Executive Chair of Dompet Dhuafa’s Covid-19 Response Task Force, Dr. Yeni Purnamasari, MKM, explained that one of the goals of this initiative is to help the community stay healthier and more comfortable while observing the fast during the upcoming Ramadan 1443 H.

“This booster vaccination is part of a joint initiative by the Covid-19 Crisis Center and the Pasar Minggu Community Health Center to address the third wave of the Omicron variant of Covid-19 and to increase booster vaccination coverage among the elderly and the general public. “In addition, the booster vaccination campaign is intended to encourage the community to welcome Ramadan 1443 H in good health and with enhanced immunity against the virus, so that COVID-19 is no longer a threat to the community,” explained Dr. Yeni on the sidelines of the booster vaccination event.

This event also received a positive response from Sri R. Amelia, Head of the Pasar Minggu Subdistrict Community Health Center, who attended the event, which took place from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. WIB. This is not the first time Dompet Dhuafa has collaborated with the Pasar Minggu Subdistrict Community Health Center; various programs have been successfully launched to provide health services to the general public.

“This is yet another instance of Dompet Dhuafa collaborating with the Pasar Minggu Subdistrict Community Health Center to accelerate vaccination efforts in Pasar Minggu Subdistrict. Hopefully, this initiative will continue, and I also urge those who have already been vaccinated not to neglect the 6M health protocols. So, please continue to follow health protocols and get your booster shot as soon as possible,” said Sri R. Amelia during the vaccination event.

In addition to Sri, this event was directly monitored by H. Narip Aripin, the Head of the Jati Padang Subdistrict. While observing the event, Narip expressed his hope that the residents of DKI Jakarta—particularly those in Jati Padang—would become healthier, avoid exposure to COVID-19, and receive their booster shots.

“It is our hope—from the city and subdistrict levels all the way down to the Jati Padang Village—that the vaccination target for the people of Jati Padang will be met, so that the residents of Jati Padang can remain healthy and well for years to come. If the community is generally healthy, economic indicators can improve. We would also like to express our sincere gratitude for the role and participation of Dompet Dhuafa in organizing this booster vaccination drive. Once again, thank you very much,” said Narip while monitoring the booster vaccination activities.

This booster vaccination campaign was successfully carried out thanks to support from various parties, including Sunpride, DD Water, Rumah Kemasan, British Propolis, and Pokka Drink. In addition, several leading Indonesian media outlets, such as NET TV and Republika, also contributed to this initiative. Dompet Dhuafa, through its Covid-19 Crisis Center in collaboration with the Pasar Minggu Community Health Center, will continue to encourage various stakeholders to actively collaborate in combating the Covid-19 pandemic.
