JAKARTA — The explosion of the Pertamina Plumpang Depot pipe, Koja, North Jakarta, on Friday (3/3/2023) night, resulted in a severe fire. Residents in the area with a radius of 300 meters from the depot were also affected.
As of Saturday (4/3/2023) morning, it was reported that 17 people died and 51 people were injured as a result of this explosion. Fast handling was immediately provided, both from the government and humanitarian agencies such as Dompet Dhuafa.

The presence of fire information was responded quickly by Dompet Dhuafa by dispatching volunteers team of Disaster Management Center (DMC), health volunteers from Layanan Kesehatan Cuma-cuma (LKC), Badan Pemulasaran Jenazah (Barzah) Team, and the Mobile Kitchen (Darling) service that arrived this morning.
“Getting the news, we immediately prepared teams for a response. Our rescue, medical, and Barzah teams departed immediately around 10 p.m. Then this morning, the Mobile Kitchen was already operating to serve the needs of drinks and foods for residents affected by the fire,” said Arif Rahmadi Haryono, as the Head of DMC Dompet Dhuafa who was in control of the response.

Not a few people were affected by the explosion and lost their homes. For this reason, Arif said that Dompet Dhuafa’s response team will continue to be alerted for the next few days. So that the society can be served, in terms of health and nutrition.

The fire was first reported to have emerged at 8:11 p.m. The fire originated from the explosion of a fuel oil (BBM) pipeline in the Depo area.
