LAMPUNG – On the occasion of the 78th Independence Day of the Republic of Indonesia, Dompet Dhuafa Lampung distributed 40 Qur’ans, 40 Iqro books, and gifts for Quran teachers in the southernmost region of Lampung on Saturday, August 19, 2023. According to Yogi Achmad Fajar, the Head of the Dompet Dhuafa Lampung Branch, this initiative is part of the thematic program for Independence Month.
“We carried out this program in celebration of the 78th Independence Day of the Republic of Indonesia. We also collaborated with the NGAJAR community, which organized literacy activities and competitions for children. During this independence celebration, we aim to bring happiness to children in remote areas and show appreciation for the efforts of Quran teachers,” explained Yogi.
The distribution of Qur’ans, Iqro books, and gifts for Quran teachers took place in Pagar Jaya Induk Hamlet, Pagar Jaya Village, Punduh Pidada Subdistrict, Pesawaran Regency. Pagar Jaya Induk Hamlet is also known as Teluk Hantu, as it is located in the southernmost part of Sumatra Island and is the furthest village in Pesawaran Regency.

The Pagar Jaya Induk Hamlet, situated on the coastal area of Pesawaran, is home to a variety of beautiful and scenic beaches. Unfortunately, access to this location is quite challenging. To reach this area, the Dompet Dhuafa Lampung team had to travel 89 kilometers from the center of Bandar Lampung city, a journey that took approximately 6 hours by road.
Despite facing a rugged and difficult terrain, the Dompet Dhuafa Lampung team remained undeterred in delivering the kindness of the donors. Even incidents of the vehicle getting stuck and navigating rocky roads, steep inclines, and wooden bridges couldn’t deter the determination of the Dompet Dhuafa Lampung team. After enduring these challenges, they finally arrived at the distribution location.
The people in the Teluk Hantu coastal area warmly welcomed the presence of Dompet Dhuafa Lampung. The distribution of Qur’ans, Iqra books, and gifts for Quran teachers brought happiness to the benefit recipients. Words of gratitude flowed from the benefit recipients to the donors who brought this act of kindness.

The happiness reflected on the faces of the benefit recipients eased for the Dompet Dhuafa Lampung team’s fatigue, given the distance and challenging road access they had to navigate to reach this location.
Wanti (12), one of the recipients of the Dompet Dhuafa Lampung Quran donation, also expressed her gratitude to the donors and Dompet Dhuafa Lampung.
“Thank you, sir. I’m even more motivated to learn to recite the Quran after receiving this new Quran,” she happily said.
Similarly, Sutrisno (60), one of the Quran teachers who received a gift from Dompet Dhuafa Lampung, also expressed his gratitude and joy after receiving the gift.

“Alhamdulillah, thank you to Dompet Dhuafa Lampung and the donors for providing assistance to me. I am happy to receive this help,” he said.
Local authorities appreciate and fully support the distribution of Qur’ans, Iqra books, and gifts for Quran teachers. One of them is Manrido, the Head of Pagar Jaya Induk Hamlet.
