LUMAJANG, EAST JAVA —-— Dompet Dhuafa, through its East Java Branch and Disaster Management Center (DMC), distributed masks and mineral water to survivors of the Mount Semeru eruption on Thursday (11/20/2025). The distribution took place in the hamlets of Oro-Oro Ombo and Gumuk Mas, Supiturang, Pronojiwo.
This aid distribution is part of a rapid response to the disaster caused by ash rain that began to cover residential areas. Previously, on Wednesday (11/19/2025), there was an escalation in the volcanic activity of Mount Semeru from level III or Alert to level IV or Danger.
According to information from the Center for Volcanology and Geological Disaster Mitigation (PVMBG), the distance of the hot clouds during the eruption was less than 13 km. In response to this situation, the local government has advised residents to be cautious.

Meanwhile, the Lumajang Regency Government will declare a 7-day emergency response status, effective from November 19 to November 26, 2025. According to a preliminary report from the BNPB Operations Center on Wednesday (11/19/2025), three villages in two subdistricts have been affected. These areas are located in Lumajang Regency, East Java.
The villages are Supit Urang and Oro-Oro Ombo in Pronojiwo District, and Penanggal in Candipuro District. There are 300 refugees, with 200 people taking shelter at the Oro-Oro Ombo Village Hall and 100 at SD 2 Supiturang.
Nur Samsi, a volunteer with DMC Dompet Dhuafa, stated, “We are conducting intensive coordination with local teams to ensure that the needs and assistance reach the survivors in a timely manner.”

This activity not only aims to provide basic logistical assistance, but also to foster solidarity among various elements of society in facing this crisis. The volunteer team and the local community worked together, forming a strong collaborative network to support recovery efforts.
Through this activity, it is hoped that the community’s rapid response to disasters in East Java will continue to be strengthened, and that the wider community will be encouraged to be more caring and active in social and humanitarian activities.
