RIAU ISLANDS — Dompet Dhuafa Cabang Kepulauan Riau (Kepri) together with Majelis Telkomsel Taqwa (MTT) distributed 60 Ramadan Parcels to the dhuafa community in Kampung Rantau, Punggur Landfill, Batam City on Thursday (8/4/2023). The prepared parcels contain staple ingredients such as rice, sugar, and others.
The area located in TPA Punggur is considered quite feasible as a place for the distribution, considering that the majority of residents there work as scrapers of plastic waste and other used goods. Ramadan parcels are delivered using the Darling (Mobile Kitchen) program’s car of Dompet Dhuafa Kepri. When the car entered the residential area, it was seen that some residents enthusiastically gathered at the distribution site.
“Alhamdulillah, this is not the first time Dompet Dhuafa Kepri has distributed assistance here. We are very happy and we hope for a sustainability of this activity,” said Baharuddin as Chairman of RT 03/RW 023.
As the name suggests, the people living in the village are nomads from various regions. The community is also known to be quite unified even though they come from various tribes.
“All the tribes here are mixed, like me from the Bugis Tribe born in Jambi and migrated to Batam. And here we are quite social,” explained Asna, a resident of Kampung Rantau. Various hopes poured out from the people who received these Ramadan Parcels.
“Thank you very much to MTT Telkomsel for sharing here, hopefully the sustenance will be launched. Hopefully in the future you can see us again here, still successful,” hoped Ria, another benefit recipient from the residents of Kampung Rantau.
The Ramadan Parcels Distribution Program is one of a series of Ramadan Journey programs. Ramadan Journey is a Big Program that invites communities, organizations, and society groups to spread kindness together through Dompet Dhuafa Kepri Ramadan programs.
