Dompet Dhuafa Enlivens the Echo of Ramadan at Class II A Prison, Paledang Bogor

BOGOR — Ramadan is a month of mercy for everyone everywhere, including assisted citizens in prisons (Lapas). The Dompet Dhuafa Community Service Institute (LPM) and Class II A Prison, Paledang Bogor, held a short Islamic training program (Pesantren) from March 28 to April 8, 2023.

During the short Islamic training program (pesantren), the assisted residents were given Islamic materials to maintain religious understanding, ranging from fasting jurisprudence, da’wah rhetoric, Sufism morals, and other sciences. The activities during this flash pesantren were filled with Iftar Together, reciting from the first surah until the last surah in Quran (Khotmil) Qur’an u, Isya and Tarawih prayers in congregation, adhan competitions, speech competitions, Qur’an memorisation competitions, smart competitions, and staying in a mosque until dawn (itikaf). Around 200 built residents attended this activity.

Head of LPM Dompet Dhuafa, Moh. Noor Awaluddin Asjhar said this activity is a forum for fostered residents to improve themselves. This glorious month of Ramadan is a moment for us. We can continue to try to do various good. Hopefully, this coaching program can benefit all built residents positively,” he explained.

Tisep Oven Harry, A.Md.IP, SH, MA as Kasi Binadik also expressed his gratitude for the presence of LPM Dompet Dhuafa and MUI Bogor City in the fostering program for assisted citizens at Class II A Prison, Paledang Bogor.

“Hopefully, this activity can continue in the following years. Furthermore, the most important thing is that assisted citizens and prison officers can learn lessons from activities like this. At least there is an increase in faith, holiness, and knowledge related to creed,” he said.

This activity coincided with the Qur’an revelation day (Nuzulul) Qur’an in the multipurpose room and ended on Saturday (8/4/2023). The peak of this short Islamic training program (pesantren) activity was the final round, the division of competitions, and the preach (tausiyah) delivered by KH. Tb. Muhidin, representative of MUI Bogor. Then the event continued with breaking the fast together until the tarawih prayer in the congregation. (LPM/RSP)
