Dompet Dhuafa Evacuates and Distributes Aid to Residents Affected by Flooding in Jakarta

JAKARTA —-— Dompet Dhuafa, through its Disaster Management Center (DMC), responded to the flooding that hit the Duri Kosambi and Rawa Buaya neighborhoods in Cengkareng Subdistrict, West Jakarta, on Friday (01/23/2026). This response was carried out as part of Dompet Dhuafa’s commitment to protecting and assisting communities affected by disasters.

In its implementation, the DMC team from Dompet Dhuafa conducted evacuations of flood-affected residents and distributed logistical aid in the form of ready-to-eat food to meet the basic needs of survivors.

Abdul Aziz, the Jakarta Flood Response Coordinator for Dompet Dhuafa’s DMC, explained that the flood conditions in Rawa Buaya Village were gradually receding. However, waterlogging was still found in several residential areas, with water levels ranging from 50 to 80 centimeters.

“Most residents chose to stay on the second floor of their homes because evacuation centers are not yet available,” said Abdul Aziz.

He also added that when the team arrived at the location, there were still requests for resident evacuations and support for the provision of ready-to-eat food.

In response to these conditions, the Dompet Dhuafa DMC Team successfully evacuated 10 people from the affected area, including an elderly person who was ill and needed immediate treatment.

In addition to evacuation efforts, Dompet Dhuafa, through DMC, also distributed logistical aid in the form of 40 servings of ready-to-eat meals to residents affected by the flooding. This assistance is expected to ease the burden on the community whose activities have been disrupted by the flooding.

In between response activities, the team also conducted field assessments to map the impact of the flooding and identify the ongoing needs of residents. Based on the results of these assessments, Dompet Dhuafa’s DMC recommended the distribution of additional ready-to-eat meals to residents who were still staying in their homes.

As of Friday evening, the Dompet Dhuafa DMC team was still on standby in the Rawa Buaya area to monitor developments and respond to any emergency needs that arose.

Based on a report from the Jakarta Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) on January 23, 2026, a total of 125 neighborhood associations (RT) and 14 roads in the Jakarta area were affected by the floods. The BPBD stated that the flooding was triggered by heavy rains that fell in the Jakarta area and its surroundings since Thursday (01/22/2026).

Friends, Dompet Dhuafa continues to encourage all parties to support each other and work together to help others. Hopefully, the floods that have hit Jakarta will recede soon and residents’ activities can return to normal. (Dompet Dhuafa)
