BOGOR, WEST JAVA — Flying freely in the air, Dompet Dhuafa raised the flag of the Red and White Saka and the flag of the State of Palestine side by side in the sky over Puncak, Bogor, on Friday (10/11/2024). This was the first time that Dompet Dhuafa’s Disaster Management Center (DMC) team used paragliding as a symbol of freedom, solidarity, and efforts to continue to raise the voice for Palestine.
In this spectacular action that stole the attention, seven personnel and volunteers of DMC Dompet Dhuafa managed to fly stunningly from an altitude of 1,300 meters above sea level (MDPL). For ten minutes, they flew the flag of Indonesia alongside the flag of Palestine, as well as a cloth with the words #DoNotForgetPalestine. Hundreds of pairs of eyes witnessed this action.
“Ten minutes of flying feels short, even though the preparation is quite long and adapts to nature. However, the message we want to convey is very deep. Through this action, we want to remind you that the genocide in Palestine has not ended and our brothers and sisters still need support,” said Kamelia, a DMC Dompet Dhuafa officer, in her first experience flying with a paraglider while unfurling the flag of Palestine.

Paragliding was chosen as a medium to echo the message of peace and support the struggle of the Palestinians. By flying freely in the sky, Dompet Dhuafa wants to show the same spirit of freedom as the Palestinians who are imprisoned in their own country.
This action also aims to raise awareness of the genocide in Palestine and the importance of international support.
One of the DMC team, Taqi Falsafati, said after the paragliding flight, “This action is a concrete manifestation of Dompet Dhuafa’s concern for our brothers and sisters in Palestine. We hope that through this action, the voices of the Palestinians will be heard by the international community. We also invite the entire community to continue to provide support and pray for the State of Palestine.”

They appreciated Dompet Dhuafa’s initiative in voicing humanitarian issues. Cheers and applause were heard welcoming the volunteers when they landed perfectly.
Dompet Dhuafa plans to continue to carry out similar actions as a form of support for Palestine. Various creative and innovative activities will continue to be initiated to increase public awareness of the importance of the issue of Palestinian independence.
