Dompet Dhuafa Prepares Dai Ambassador to New Caledonia

NEW KALEDONIA — After the Covid-19 pandemic ends, Dompet Dhuafa will again hold the Dai Ambassador program in Ramadan 1444 H / 2023 AD. This program carries the spirit of strengthening proselytizing to all corners of the world, including new partnerships with the New Caledonia State.

On Monday (6/3/2023), Dompet Dhuafa visited the Konsulat Jenderal Republik Indonesia (KJRI) Noumea to discuss the need for proselytizing for the Indonesian diaspora (people) in New Caledonia during the month of Ramadan. This meeting occurred at the KJRI Noumea office attended by Dompet Dhuafa International Da’wah Officer Totok Hadi Fitoyo and Indonesian Consul General Noumea Hendra Satya Pramana and his staff.

Through this meeting, Dompet Dhuafa explored proselytizing materials and special studies needed by Muslims in New Caledonia. That way, the exploration of proselytizing activities during Ramadan can later run smoothly according to the expected results. As soon as Totok returns to the country, Dompet Dhuafa will send one of his dai to give a month-long study of Islam there.

Hendra Satya Pramana thanked Dompet Dhuafa for paying great attention to Noumea. He explained that in general, the population in New Caledonia was 271,407, with a population composition based on ethnicity: Melanesian (41.21%); European Community (24.13%); Walis & Futuna (8.3%); Tahiti (1.98%); Indonesian descendants are 3,786 people (1.39%); Vanuatu (0.85%); Vietnam (0.82%).

“Thank you, Dompet Dhuafa for paying great attention to Noumea. This area is an archipelago under French rule represented by the French High Commissioner,” he said.

The data above is an excellent opportunity for Dompet Dhuafa to strengthen further the role of proselytizing in the island area under the French government. Moreover, the Noumea region is quite a lot of Javanese tribes. So, the concept of proselytizing and culture becomes the main idea in its implementation later.

Totok Hadi explained the Dai Ambassador program to KJRI Noumea.

Separately, Ahmad Pranggono in Jakarta, Indonesia as the Senior Officer of Da’wah Services said, Dompet Dhuafa will strengthen da’wah in Noumea through the Overseas Learning Center or Pusat Belajar Mengaji (PBM) program. This is so that Islamic proselytizing can be better.

“Dompet Dhuafa is serious about implementing the Dai Ambassador program in the month of Ramadan this year and took the initiative to strengthen proselytizing in Noumea through the Center for Learning to Study Abroad program, so that proselytizing will be better and more permanent later,” he explained.

Totok added that during Ramadan, Dompet Dhuafa would cooperate with the Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia (KJRI) Noumea and send one dai there to carry out proselytizing through cultural approaches and social transformation. According to the data, in the Noumea region, many people are from the Javanese tribe.

“The concept of proselytizing and culture is the main idea in its implementation. Hopefully, the Dai Ambassador program in the month of Ramadan this year can run smoothly and bring goodness to the Muslim community in Indonesia. Amen,” he said. (Dompet Dhuafa/THF/Muthohar)
