Dompet Dhuafa Provides Free Motorcycle Maintenance Services to Dozens of Journalists

JAKARTA —-— On Saturday (March 14, 2026), 50 journalists from various media outlets received free vehicle maintenance services. The event was organized by Dompet Dhuafa with support from Dompet Dhuafa’s Institute for Self-Reliance (IK). The free motorcycle maintenance, which took place in the parking lot of the Filantropi Building in Jati Padang, South Jakarta, featured eight vehicle inspection stations staffed by trained mechanics.

Dompet Dhuafa hopes this initiative will serve as a source of motivation for journalists to provide positive information and education to the public amid the proliferation of news sources whose accuracy and reliability remain unverified.

The demanding nature of their work requires journalists to constantly ride their motorcycles to cover a variety of news stories. However, many journalists often don’t have time to consider the condition of their motorcycle engines due to their packed work schedules. A lack of free time means they pay less attention to vehicle maintenance.

“Alhamdulillah, Dompet Dhuafa is rolling out a free motorcycle service today for 50 journalists. This initiative is part of our effort to maintain strong ties with journalists as key communicators in conveying information and education, including encouraging the public to participate in humanitarian efforts. Additionally, we are introducing one of the programs from the Institute of Self-Reliance aimed at empowering the underprivileged to become professional experts in their respective fields,” said Ahmad Juwaini, Chairman of the Dompet Dhuafa Republika Foundation.

Dompet Dhuafa, in collaboration with the Institut Kemandirian, has taken the initiative to provide free motorcycle maintenance services for journalists. The Institut Kemandirian is a vocational training and business incubation center dedicated to developing high-quality human resources. It is funded by zakat collected by Dompet Dhuafa from the public.

“Thank you very much to the donors and Dompet Dhuafa for organizing this free service for journalists during Ramadan 1447 H. Hopefully, this activity will be beneficial for journalists, given their busy schedules chasing sources in various locations—which inevitably requires motorcycles to navigate metropolitan roads. Additionally, unpredictable weather conditions can further weaken the condition of the motorcycles. Alhamdulillah, the event went smoothly this afternoon, and the motorcycles are now in good condition,” said Bayu, one of the journalists who participated in the free motorcycle service program.
