Dompet Dhuafa Provides Special Gifts for Participants of Mass Circumcision at the 78th Public Service Day Celebration in South Sumatra

PALEMBANG, SOUTH SUMATRA — The South Sumatra Branch of Dompet Dhuafa participated and enlivened the mass circumcision event commemorating the 78th Public Service Day in Palembang. The event was organized by the Regional Office of the Ministry of Religious Affairs of South Sumatra Province at the MAN 3 Palembang Hall on Tuesday (9/1/2024).

The 78th Public Service Day celebration by the South Sumatra Regional Office of the Ministry of Religious Affairs featured a mass circumcision for children. The mass circumcision participants were children from various regions in South Sumatra, with a total of 48 children successfully undergoing the circumcision process.

Besides fulfilling the Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), the children attending the mass circumcision event also hoped to gain health benefits. Circumcision is known to reduce the risk of sexually transmitted infections such as HPV, herpes, and syphilis.

As a community service organization, the South Sumatra Branch of Dompet Dhuafa also supported this event and facilitated the smooth execution of the mass circumcision by providing gifts to the participating children. The gifts included caps, sarongs, and healthy food.

M. Iqbal, a Fundraising Staff member at Dompet Dhuafa Sumsel, symbolically handed over the gifts to a representative of the South Sumatra Regional Office of the Ministry of Religious Affairs. The gift-giving was a valuable moment in strengthening the synergy between the South Sumatra Regional Office of the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Dompet Dhuafa South Sumatra Branch.

“Besides providing physical benefits to the participants, the support from Dompet Dhuafa Sumsel is also expected to offer encouragement and moral support to the children undergoing circumcision,” Iqbal stated. (Dompet Dhuafa/AHB/Ron)
