Dompet Dhuafa Receives Donation from Mocca Band for Disaster Survivors in Sumatra

JAKARTA —-— Dompet Dhuafa received a donation of Rp41 million from the Mocca Band to help communities affected by disasters in Sumatra. The donation was handed over at the Philanthropy Building, South Jakarta, on Monday (January 26, 2026). The donation was the result of sales of Mocca merchandise through live streaming activities.

Mocca Band is a music group from Bandung known for their indie pop style and has been active since the late 1990s. The group consists of Arina Ephipania (vocals), Riko Prayitno (guitar), Toma Pratama (bass), and Indra Massadika (drums). In addition to working in the national and international music industry, Mocca is also frequently involved in various social and humanitarian activities.

A representative of Mocca Band explained that the donation came from the profits of merchandise sales, which were entirely channeled through Dompet Dhuafa.

“We sold merchandise through live streaming, and we donated all of the profits to our friends and relatives who were affected by the disaster in Sumatra,” said the representative of Mocca Band.

From this activity, Mocca Band managed to raise around Rp41 million. However, the fundraising process was not without challenges, especially in terms of merchandise production and distribution.

“We usually use a pre-order system, so we had to rush the production time within two weeks. That time was also close to the holidays, so it was quite a race,” he said.

Regarding the distribution of aid, Mocca Band fully entrusts Dompet Dhuafa as an institution with experience in disaster response.

“We entrust Dompet Dhuafa because they know better what the most urgent needs are in the field,” he said.

Mocca Band also expressed their hopes for disaster survivors.

“What is seen in the media may only be a small part. The most difficult part is rising from that point (of despair) to continue living as before the incident,” he said.

“Today, Dompet Dhuafa is building 1,000 temporary shelters and renovating educational facilities. We are also providing support such as school kits, health facilities, toilets, and several programs that will be launched during Ramadan,” said Etika Setiawanti.

She emphasized that assistance for survivors is still needed on an ongoing basis.

“They still need to be helped,” she said.

Dompet Dhuafa appreciates the contribution of Mocca Band and hopes this collaboration will inspire more parties, especially musicians and the general public, to actively participate in helping disaster victims in Indonesia. (Dompet Dhuafa)
