Dompet Dhuafa Receives Special Award for Child Protection from the Ministry of Women’s Empowerment and Child Protection

JAKARTA — On Friday (7/22/2022) the Ministry of Women’s Empowerment and Child Protection (KemenPPPA) again awarded the 2022 Child-Friendly District / City Award (KLA) to 320 districts / cities. Not only giving the KLA award, the Ministry of Women’s Empowerment and Child Protection also gave the Special Field of Child Protection Award to the Forum Zakat (FOZ) at an event held in Bogor, West Java.

This award is a form of appreciation from the Ministry of Women’s Empowerment and Child Protection to the Zakat Management Organization (OPZ) members of the Zakat Forum who have become strategic partners of the government in assisting and fulfilling the needs of children through various channels of assistance, especially during the Covid-19 pandemic.

“The Zakat Institutions that are members of the Zakat Forum are our closest partners during the pandemic. We, together with the Zakat Forum, go around, conduct assessments and provide assistance ranging from internet aid to scholarships, which, thank God, have now been budgeted by the Ministry of Social Affairs. Our intervention at the beginning was thanks to the extraordinary support of one of them, the Zakat Forum,” explained the Minister of Women’s Empowerment and Child Protection (PPPA), Bintang Puspayoga.

In addition, Bintang also hopes that this award will encourage Zakat Management Organizations (OPZ) members of the Zakat Forum to further improve protection for children in various regions in Indonesia. “Hopefully this spirit of synergy and collaboration can realize our shared dream of empowered women, protected children and an advanced Indonesia,” she continued.

Dompet Dhuafa, as a member of the Zakat Forum, is very grateful for this award. For 29 years, Dompet Dhuafa has been supporting the development of the community and has rolled out various #JadiManfaat programs, including providing protection to children who have been orphaned or made orphans by the Covid-19 pandemic.

“With this award, God willing, Dompet Dhuafa as a philanthropic institution that works for the empowerment of the people and humanity can continue to be motivated to be a bridge of kindness that is trustworthy and of course contributes a lot,” said Rahmad Riyadi as Chair of the Dompet Dhuafa Republika Foundation.

In the future, Dompet Dhuafa will continue to be committed and improve synergy with the government and other elements of society to extend benefits to children in Indonesia.
