PALEMBANG, SOUTH SUMATRA — The South Sumatra Branch of Dompet Dhuafa conducted the selection process for the 2024 Dai Ambassador on Wednesday (29/11/2023). The selection aimed to identify Dai who meet the criteria to be dispatched by Dompet Dhuafa for preaching during Ramadan 1445 Hijriah.
This selection involved several Dompet Dhuafa figures, one of whom was a representative from Cordofa Center, Ustaz Labib. Also in attendance at the 2024 Dai Ambassador selection were Riski Asmuni, the Head of Dompet Dhuafa’s South Sumatra Branch, and Ustaz Dasram Effendi, Lc., the 2023 Dai Ambassador from South Sumatra.
Three candidates participated in the South Sumatra selection phase: Ustaz Dr. Lukman Sumarna Lc, Ustaz Kgs. Fadlillahi Akbar, S.Psi, MM, and Ustaz Alif Maulana Islam, S.Sos.

The selection process began with a written test to initially assess the participants’ abilities. This was followed by an interview, a critical step to further gauge the participants’ capacities and understanding of the responsibilities they would shoulder as Dompet Dhuafa’s Dai.
Ustaz M Labib expressed his appreciation and congratulations to the participants who had advanced to the interview stage. Given the high level of community interest, the committee had to exercise greater selectivity in the selection process.
“The interview results demonstrated that the participants’ capabilities are exceptionally high, but the final decision will be made by Cordofa Center. This decision will be tailored to the needs for Dai in the countries where the 2024 Dai Ambassadors will be stationed,” Ustaz M Labib explained.
The Dai Ambassador is a Dompet Dhuafa preaching service program that sends selected Dai to preach in several countries in Asia and Europe during the month of Ramadan. Their task is to fully represent Islam and introduce Indonesian culture at their assigned locations.
