JAKARTA — Through the momentum of Eid al-Adha 1444 H, it is hoped that there will be an increase in the welfare of the community and the environment in Indonesia. Dompet Dhuafa with the development of the Program Tebar Hewan Kurban (THK) or Sacrificial Animal Stock also supports the empowerment of DD Farm, the management of sacrificial meat containers that immediately involves local communities in making eco-friendly containers, so it is hoped that the Kurban Asyik Tanpa Plastik (Enjoy Sacrifice Without Plastic) campaign can reduce the use of plastic waste to environmental pollution.
In a public discussion entitled “Peran Kurban Bagi Kesejahteraan Masyarakat & Kelestarian Alam” (The Role of Sacrifice for Community Welfare & Nature Sustainability) on Wednesday (21/6/2023) which was held at Kopi Ko Acung Sabang, Central Jakarta, Prima Hadi Putra as Director of Communication, Technology and Governance of Dompet Dhuafa explained that the purpose of this activity was to collaborate with media partners to voice the Program Tebar Hewan Kurban (THK) Dompet Dhuafa to the wider community to remote parts of the country.
“Tebar Hewan Kurban is a program that integrates donors, breeders empowerment, and meat recipients. On Eid al-Adha this time we are targeting 32,000 heads equivalent to Doka (Sheep/Goats). Tebar Hewan Kurban is inseparable from media friends who helped in the process of spreading the 1444 H sacrifice to the entire community, especially the donors of this year’s Dompet Dhuafa Sacrifice,” explained Prima.

The Tebar Hewan Kurban 1444 H Program is again collaborating with PT Lion Super Indo which has previously established a four-year collaboration of kindness with Dompet Dhuafa. Super Indo also has one of the pillars of sustainability, namely community connection through community development and philanthropic approaches. Since its establishment 25 years ago, Super Indo has regularly carried out routine social activities both on a regional and national scale by collaborating with its partners. 2023 is the fourth year Super Indo has collaborated with Dompet Dhuafa.
“In addition to the good credibility of Dompet Dhuafa, we see that Dompet Dhuafa has the same spirit as Super Indo, that is the spirit of collaboration and providing convenience for customers. With this program, we hope to provide easy access for people who want to carry out sacrifices this year,” said Donny Ardianta Passa, Vice President of Buying & Indirect Procurement of Super Indo.
“In order to spread the enthusiasm and benefits more, for Super Indo customers who have become My Super Indo members, there will be additional benefits, they are discounts for Premium Sheep/Goats and Cattle for the period of purchasing sacrificial animals at Super Indo outlets from June 22-28, 2023,” he added.
Mariatul Kibtiah as the Chair of THK 2023 in this discussion also explained the Tebar Hewan Kurban Program to media partners regarding the process of distributing sacrificial animals with Quality Control (QC) in accordance with Sharia law to remote parts of the country.
“This Tebar Hewan Kurban Program has entered its 29th time, is present with the aim of being able to participate in empowering breeders and distributing sacrificial animals to remote parts of the country by targeting more than 1.2 million benefit recipients of sacrificial animal meat, Dompet Dhuafa also guarantees that sacrificial animals entrusted by donors are ensured to be healthy and fulfilled in accordance with sharia,” Lia explained.
On the other hand, sacrificial hegemony also affects the culture of the community in utilizing recycled containers as meat container devices in distributing meat. In big cities, the use of containers still uses a lot of plastic as meat containers in their distribution.
The use of containers from plastic bags can trigger high waste and environmental destruction. In 2022, the Kurban Asik Tanpa Sampah Plastik (Enjoy Sacrifice Without Plastic Waste) movement succeeded in changing the use of single-use packaging when distributing sacrificial meat to eco-friendly packaging as many as 137,539 packages in 24 provinces throughout Indonesia.
Furthermore, Ujang Solihin Sidik as Head of Sub-Directorate of Producer Management of the Ministry of Environment and Forestry added that this #SatuKurbanBanyakKebaikan (#OneSacrificeMuchGoodness) campaign is one of the virtues that must also be applied to the surrounding environment, with the Kurban Asyik Tanpa Plastik movement actually creating creative communities with the emergence of plastic bag replacement containers. The good news is that this movement continues to increase every year and will continue to be carried out in an effort to sort and process waste, especially plastic waste which will be carried out this year together with Dompet Dhuafa.
Dompet Dhuafa with the tagline One Sacrifice Much Goodness hopes that community support by sacrificing can support equal distribution of social welfare and increase nutritional consumption in efforts to prevent stunting for children. On the other hand, with the Kurban Asik Tanpa Plastik campaign, it is hoped that people will be more concerned with the preservation of nature and minimize the use of plastic in sacrificial hegemony.

“The gap in meat consumption and the potential of sacrifices for meat intervention, with a potential of 103 thousand tons of sacrificial meat in 1444 H, become an opportunity for Dompet Dhuafa in an effort to fix the protein deficit for the poor, especially the extremely poor mustahiq with an even distribution of sacrificial meat,” Yusuf Wibisono as Director of IDEAS added.
Also present at this event was Aliyah Sayuti, a Super Volunteer of Dompet Dhuafa who shared her experience for more than five years participating in the collaboration of kindness with Dompet Dhuafa in distributing sacrificial animals to remote parts of the country.
“Since 2018 I have collaborated with Dompet Dhuafa to become a Super Volunteer, it has been a very memorable experience with all the twists and turns of the journey to the distribution of sacrificial animals to remote parts of the country, especially 3T places to channel the trust of donors,” said Aliyah.
