In the midst of rapid technological developments, especially with the advent of artificial intelligence (AI), parents are faced with new challenges in educating their children. Technology brings many benefits, but it also brings risks that must be addressed wisely. As Muslims, we are taught to guide our children towards good values, which not only educate them to be smart, but also teach them to share, care for others, and live with compassion.
Children’s Education in the Age of Technology and AI
Technology, especially AI, has changed the way we interact, work, and even learn. Children now have easier access to information through the internet and various applications that can help them learn. However, while this progress offers many opportunities, we also need to be careful in selecting the information they consume. AI can be used for various positive purposes, such as education, but it can also become a harmful tool if not used wisely.
The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) taught us the importance of education and knowledge, and we can follow his example in teaching children to use their knowledge in the right way. Allah (SWT) states in the Quran:
“And say, ‘O my Lord, increase me in knowledge.’” (QS. Taha: 114)
Using technology wisely is part of the knowledge we must teach our children, with the aim that they can use it for the good and benefit of the people.
Instilling Islamic Values in Children’s Education
Amidst the rapid flow of information and technology, it is important for parents to continue to instill Islamic values in their children’s education. One of the main values in Islam is sharing, whether it be wealth, time, or affection. Islam teaches us to always care for others, whether they are rich or poor, near or far.
“Indeed, the righteous will be those who believe and do righteous deeds and advise one another to truth and patience.” (QS. Al-Asr: 3)
Instilling a spirit of sharing in children from an early age is one way to shape a caring and helpful character. Education about sharing is not only about money or goods, but also time, energy, and attention to others, especially those who are less fortunate.
In this digital age, children often get caught up in a selfish and materialistic world. They may be more focused on what they have or what they want. Therefore, it is important to teach them the value of sharing from an early age, so they learn to care and be grateful for what they have, and feel fulfilled in giving to others.

In Islam, charity is one of the most emphasized ways to help others. The Prophet Muhammad SAW said:
“Charity does not diminish wealth. On the contrary, Allah increases it.” (HR. Muslim)
By teaching children to share, they will grow up to be individuals who are not only intellectually intelligent, but also rich in heart. They will understand that true happiness does not only come from having many possessions or money, but also from giving and seeing happiness on the faces of others.
Sharing Through Almsgiving: Islamic Teachings on Caring for Others
Educating children in the AI era is not only about how they use technology, but also about how they learn to share and help others. One of the best ways to teach children about sharing is by exemplifying acts of charity, whether in the form of money, time, or social support. This will help them understand the importance of caring and give them the opportunity to experience the joy of sharing.
Amidst the many challenges facing society, especially in a global situation full of uncertainty, many people need a helping hand. Therefore, it is very important to instill in our children that sharing is a way to maintain social balance and have a positive impact on the world.
