JAKARTA – For many patients and families staying at Shelter Sehati, the treatment journey is not just a struggle against illness, but also an emotional and financial challenge. They come from various regions in Indonesia, far from their hometowns and loved ones. Undergoing treatment in Jakarta means having to temporarily separate from family, leave work, and face uncertainty about recovery. In these conditions, happiness may be a rare thing. However, a moment full of joy came at Shelter Sehati, Johar Baru, Central Jakarta, on Sunday (03/16/2025), thanks to a social activity by Dompet Dhuafa together with the Conan Fans Club Indonesia (CFC ID).
Full of excitement, the Community Service Institute (LPM) Dompet Dhuafa and CFC ID collaborated to hold a book donation and iftar event at Shelter Sehati. This activity aims to bring happiness to patients and families undergoing treatment at Dr. Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital (RSCM).
Shelter Sehati is a place of refuge for patients and families from various regions in Indonesia. The shelter serves as a temporary home for those undergoing treatment at Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital (RSCM) and in need of a place to stay during their treatment. Not only a place to rest, the shelter also provides moral support and other facilities to help patients and families cope with the difficult treatment period.

On this occasion, members of CFC ID appeared wearing character costumes from the Detective Conan series to entertain the children of patients staying at the shelter. The joy was evident on the faces of the children who were so enthusiastic about welcoming the community members. Some children were even seen interacting with CFC ID members, sharing stories, and taking pictures with their favorite characters.
In addition to providing entertainment, CFC ID also donated books raised through the Marathon of Kindness for Ramadan Program which ran from February 28 to March 13, 2025. The donated books include comics, novels, and other readings that can be enjoyed by people of all ages. With this donation, the Shelter Sehati reading corner is enriched with a collection of reading materials that can be used as a means of education and entertainment for the shelter’s residents.
Dompet Dhuafa Partnership Manager, Maya Nuraini, appreciated the involvement of the popular culture community in this social activity. For her, this is a form of real concern by CFC ID that can be emulated by other communities in encouraging those who are struggling.
“I am very grateful that communities like CFC ID are participating in efforts to give hope to patients and their families. This is a real form of care that can give encouragement to those who are struggling with illness. Community involvement in social activities like this can inspire other groups to participate in humanitarian actions,” he said.

CFC ID Public Relations, Syauqi, emphasized that his community not only gathered to channel their hobbies, but also had social concerns. He also emphasized the importance of moral support from various parties so that patients remain enthusiastic about undergoing treatment. He also hopes that the patients will get better and be able to return to their families soon.
“No matter what the community is, we must not forget those in need. We still want to help others,” he said.
This activity provided a precious moment for the shelter residents, including Kusrawati Kulman, a mother from Makassar who accompanied her son, Yardan, to undergo treatment.
“We feel comforted. Alhamdulillah, with this activity, we have a new family. My son is also happy to see new people,” said Kusrawati.
Yardan, who is undergoing treatment for Ventricular Septal Defect (VSD) and Patent Ductus Arteriosus (PDA), was enthusiastic about the presence of CFC ID members and the books that were given. Kusrawati also revealed that the presence of communities such as CFC ID brings new enthusiasm to those who are facing major challenges in their lives.
In addition to book donations and entertainment, CFC ID is once again collaborating with LPM Dompet Dhuafa to hold a fundraising campaign entitled “Bringing Ramadan Happiness to Shelter Sehati”. The funds raised will be used to provide healthy food packages for patients and families living in shelters during the month of Ramadan. Due to limited conditions, many patients and families have to celebrate Ramadan and Eid away from their hometowns. Therefore, this campaign is a form of concern so that they can still feel the warmth of Ramadan even in difficult situations.
“This campaign will be realized in various programs at the Sehati Shelter, such as providing healthy food for patients,” added Maya.

CFC ID is a community of fans of the Detective Conan series that has been around since 2011. With more than 2000 members, this community is not only active in fandom-based activities, but also routinely holds social events every year. It is this spirit of kindness that has kept the community alive and growing.
With the limitations that exist, many patients and families have to undergo Ramadan and celebrate Eid away from home. Through this activity, it is hoped that they will receive moral support and encouragement to remain strong throughout the treatment process. Hopefully a cure will soon be with the patients, so that they can return to being with their beloved families and live a better life in the future.
It is hoped that social activities like this will continue and inspire other communities to participate in sharing happiness with those in need.
