GIIAS 2022 Automotive Exhibition Opens, Dompet Dhuafa Returns as Charity Partner

TANGERANG — The 2022 Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) exhibition was officially opened by the Coordinating Minister for the Economy, Airlangga Hartanto, on Thursday (11/8/2022). For 11 (eleven) days from the opening day until August 21, 2022, the GIIAS 2022 event was held at the Indonesia Convention Exhibition (ICE) Building in BSD City, Tangerang with the theme “Future is Bright”. GIIAS intends to promote the electrification technology utility that the government is promoting as well as the latest vehicle technology. More than 30 new model vehicles were launched at the GIIAS 2022 exhibition.

In his opening remarks at GIIAS 2022, Coordinating Minister Hartanto said that Indonesia’s economic growth in the second quarter (2022), which grew 5.44 percent, was helped by the automotive sector. This is because Indonesia is a large market for the motor vehicle industry.

In addition, Dompet Dhuafa fully supports GIIAS in the government’s efforts to encourage the growth of the motor vehicle industry in Indonesia, including electric vehicles. This is in line with what was said by the Chairman of the Association of Indonesian Motor Vehicle Industries (Gaikindo) Yohannes Nangoi, that Gaikindo and the Indonesian automotive industry fully support the government’s steps to encourage the growth of the battery-based electric motor vehicle industry (KBLBB) in Indonesia.

“The 2022 GIIAS event will provide information and education about the electric vehicle ecosystem through various programs, one of which is the EV Test Track,” said Nangoi.

Since 2018, Dompet Dhuafa has been actively collaborating in charity programs with Gaikindo as a charity partner. In 2019, Dompet Dhuafa and Gaikindo held the “GIIAS EDUCARE Caring with Dompet Dhuafa” event. This event is a CSR program in the form of automotive education and training before the 2019 GIIAS exhibition begins. This educational program took place in Jakarta for 3 (three) months involving 36 (thirty-six) participants through the Dompet Dhuafa Independence Institute (IK).

There was also a “Blood Donation Caring with Dompet Dhuafa” event through the Dompet Dhuafa Free Health Service Program Unit (LKC) in collaboration with the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI). There was also an “Education Day” program for vocational high school students which took place as part of the GIIAS 2019 exhibition series. This program is always held every year at the GIIAS exhibition.

Expanding further, in the 2022 GIIAS Educare program, Gaikindo collaborated with Dompet Dhuafa to provide school renovation assistance for the Nurul Falah Private Islamic Elementary School (MIS) in Gaok Village, Pangadegan Village, Pasar Kemis District, Tangerang Regency on Saturday (7/23/2022).

Laurentinus Iwan Pranoto, Head of Communication and Customer Service Management of Asuransi Astra Event Co-Leader Astra Financial GIIAS 2022, said that in the GIIAS Educare 2022 program, Gaikindo hopes that assistance to this school can continue to improve for the better in the future. “This is our effort to become a partner for the welfare of Indonesia, especially in the field of education,” he said when handing over the MIS Nurul Falah School Renovation Assistance.
