BEKASI, WEST JAVA — Dompet Dhuafa and Islamic Bilingual School (IBS) Al Ikhlas are committed to defending the Palestinian people, who are currently experiencing a humanitarian crisis. This commitment was manifested in a Palestine defense action at the IBS Al Ikhlas school area in Jatimurni, Pondokmelati District, Bekasi City, on Wednesday (15/11/2023).
At the end of the event, IBS Al Ikhlas handed over a humanitarian donation for the Palestinian people to Dompet Dhuafa amounting to IDR 72 million. The donation was collected from the parents of the students, teachers, student charity savings, and the surrounding community.
The Palestine defense action consisted of various events, including humanitarian storytelling for PG/TKIT and SDIT students in grades 1 to 3. The storytelling was led by Kak Izul, who packaged Islamic stories about Palestine in an engaging manner. Amid his storytelling, Kak Izul inserted values of brotherhood, care, and humanity as taught by Prophet Muhammad.

Additionally, Dompet Dhuafa invited a Palestinian sheikh, Ahmed Suheil Al Madi, to participate in a dialogue session with SDIT students in grades 4-6 and their parents. The support for the Palestinian people was further highlighted by performances from the students and teachers.
Sheikh Ahmed Suheil Al Madi shared several points about Palestine that the Indonesian community needs to understand. He mentioned that the Palestinian people deeply love the people of Indonesia, and they have been brothers even before 7,000 years ago.
“أهل أرض فلسطين هم إخوانكم من العرب. وذلك قبل سبعة آلف عام من الآن” قال أحمد.
He then advised, as a form of defense for Palestine, there are several things that the Indonesian community, especially school children, can do, such as strengthening their faith, obeying Allah SWT, maintaining the five daily prayers, preserving the dawn prayer, and educating children according to the teachings of Prophet Muhammad.

According to Ahmed, the Indonesian community consists of noble people who greatly care for the residents of Gaza, Palestine.

“Alhamdulillah, by Allah’s permission, today’s donation drive for Palestine went smoothly. Hopefully, this activity, the collaboration between Dompet Dhuafa and IBS Al Ikhlas, continues to be blessed. We hope this donation can benefit our brothers and sisters in Palestine. We pray to Allah SWT for our brothers and sisters there to be protected from the weapons launched by Zionist Israel,” said Saidi Ahmad, Director of IBS Al Ikhlas, after handing over the donation to Dompet Dhuafa.

Responding to the donation, Yudha Andilla, Manager of Retail Fundraising at Dompet Dhuafa, expressed great gratitude. He also highly appreciated the students of IBS Al Ikhlas for expressing their concern for their brothers in Palestine.
The Head of the Student Council at SMP IT Al Ikhlas, Shafa Januar Sarisa, stated that the student council had been socializing the donation drive for some time. All students also expressed their concern for their peers, who should be spending their time learning but are instead experiencing deep sorrow.
“Some time ago, we socialized to set aside a little aid for our brothers in Palestine who are currently in distress. Although it’s a small amount, if collected over time, it will amount to a lot,” she concluded. (Dompet Dhuafa/Muthohar)
