CAIRO, EGYPT — The escalating armed tension in the Gaza Strip, Palestine, since October 7, 2023, has raised global concern, including from the Indonesian community. The collaboration of support and humanitarian aid to the Palestinian people through the Indonesian Humanitarian Alliance (IHA)—amidst highly challenging circumstances—is expected to not only optimize aid in terms of quantity but also to provide higher quality and more meaningful humanitarian support and assistance to the benefit recipients.
This is because every action undergoes a thorough review and planning process. It is coordinated with various parties, and collective assistance is provided in the implementation and evaluation together with various stakeholders to learn for future similar support.
M. Ali Yusuf—commonly known as Gus Ali—the Chair of the Indonesian Humanitarian Alliance (IHA), stated, “We are grateful for the trust and support of the Indonesian community that has donated through IHA members. We continue to hope for their support to assist the communities affected by the armed conflict in Gaza, Palestine, so they can resume their lives better.”

Also for their commitment to continuously support the implementation of collaborative actions in providing support and humanitarian aid in Gaza, Palestine. May Allah SWT always facilitate our efforts and may peace and freedom in Palestine soon be realized,” Gus Ali continued.
Over the past week, the IHA Humanitarian Team has been in Cairo, Egypt. On Friday (24/11/2023), the Dompet Dhuafa-IHA Humanitarian Team also had an audience with the Indonesian Ambassador to Egypt, Lutfi Rauf, who invited the Dompet Dhuafa-IHA Humanitarian Team and other Indonesian humanitarian organizations that have arrived in Egypt to discuss the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip.
There, the team also established a Hub Office as a joint office to oversee the selection of humanitarian aid items, packaging, and transportation by local partners in Egypt. This aid includes food, mineral water, medical kits, and winter supplies. These items will then be dispatched with 11 humanitarian trucks equivalent to 176 tons of aid from Cairo to El-Arish and the Rafah Crossing.
IHA is a consortium of humanitarian and ZISWAF (zakat, charity, almsgiving, and endowment) institutions in Indonesia, consisting of Dompet Dhuafa, Human Initiative, Nurul Hayat, Rumah Zakat, BMH, Yatim Mandiri, DT Peduli, MuhammadiyahAid, LMI, YDSF, and zakat institutions members of the Zakat Forum (FOZ).
