Injecting New Skills into IK Participants Through the Re-Space Program

TANGERANG — The Institut Kemandirian (IK) Dompet Dhuafa, in collaboration with PT Rebach Internasional, is offering additional classes for participants of the digital boot camp training. This is to provide additional knowledge and new experiences to all participants. This additional training is part of the Re-Space Program.

While accompanying the participants at the location, Gedung Inovasi Kemandirian, Jalan Zaitun II, Komplek Islamic Village Tangerang, on Wednesday (31/8/2022), Independence Institute staff member Abdul Harish Nafis explained that the Re-Space Program is an additional training class that must be attended by participants of the digital boot camp. The training available for participants is Makerspace and Kitchen Lab.

The training is held on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays. Each training session is attended by four participants. Each bootcamp participant takes turns attending these training classes. Harish emphasized that this one-day training class is free and participants can take home the products they make.

On another occasion, Rico Tampati, a makerspace instructor at PT Rebach Internasional, explained that his team is currently providing training on how to make folding tables out of wood. At the beginning of the training, his team teaches basic techniques and introduces various tools that will be used, including saws, drills, sandpaper, and others. In addition, participants can immediately practice how to make patterns, cut, drill, and smooth wood using electric tools.

“All the tools here are automatic,” explained Rico.

Despite the relatively short time, Rico acknowledged that the participants were able to learn to the maximum. As a result, the participants were able to make folding tables made of wood in just five hours.

On the other hand, in the Kitchen Lab, the Independence Institute and PT Rebach provided additional classes to the participants of the digital bootcamp by decorating Origami Cake.

Professional instructor at PT Rebach Internasional’s Kitchen Lab, Keishya Rivita Halimma, explained that participants were taught how to decorate Origami Cakes. The basic ingredients were cream and white chocolate. Other ingredients included styrofoam dummy cakes, food coloring, and cocoa butter. The tools used were A4 paper, baking paper, and a spray gun.

“The technique used is the ‘velvet spray’ method using a cake spray gun,” explained the graduate of Le Cordon Bleu Malaysia on Wednesday (September 14, 2022).

She continued by explaining that in the initial stage, participants were introduced to the tools and materials used in decorating Origami Cakes. Next, they cut the baking paper into the desired shapes. Then, the participants were taught how to melt the white chocolate and cream and mix the two ingredients together.

The next step is to place the melted white chocolate cream onto the cut paper. After cooling in the freezer, the frozen white chocolate cream is spread onto the cake. Finally, apply velvet spray using a cake spray gun or color the sponge cake layer using the velvet spray technique with a cake spray gun. This technique is used to create a color gradient, making the cake look more beautiful and appealing.

IK Dompet Dhuafa and PT Rebach International have been collaborating in the form of the Re-Space Program since Friday (April 22, 2022). On Saturday (September 24, 2022), Dompet Dhuafa will officially hold a press conference and the grand launch of the Re-Space Program at the Tangerang Independence Innovation Building.
