LKC-DD Banten Wins Award at the Declaration of the 1st Pillar of STOP BABS Kalodran village

SERANG, BANTEN — Free Health Services (LKC) Dompet Dhuafa Banten won the ODF (Open Defecation Free) acceleration award from Walantaka District at the declaration of the 1st pillar of Stop Open Defecation (STOP – Buang Air Besar Sembarangan/STOP-BABS) Kalodran village.

This appreciation is pinned to LKC-DD Banten for its role as an NGO (Non-Government Organization) that has supported and participated in STOP-BABS in Serang City. This activity took place in the courtyard of the Jami State Elementary School Office, Kalodran Village, Walantaka District, Serang City, on Wednesday (10/19/2022).

This activity was attended by H. Syafrudin Mayor of Serang, Meyta Winduka Head of LKC-DD Banten, Karsono of Walantaka Sub-district, Indri Sulistiani Karsono Chairman of TP-PKK Walantaka District, Ninis Nafisah Head of Kalodran Village and Head of Villages throughout Walantaka District, Captain arm Siswoyo as Danramil Walantaka, Nuramang Head of Kalodran Health Center and Sri Widiyati Head of STBM Mobilization in Serang City.

As many as 50 houses that previously did not have latrines are now available for family latrines. The acceleration of ODF or STOP-BABS is carried out due to the collaboration carried out by various parties. Among them are maximizing existing resources in the Kalodran area and stimulants from LKC-DD Banten in the form of material assistance for constructing family latrines.

“This is a form of collaboration between LKC-DD Banten and the Serang City Government and all parties concerned to be more able to synergize in improving the degree of public health, especially in Serang City. The stimulants we provide are in the form of materials in the form of sand, cement, and toilets which aim to trigger the movement of residents towards the acceleration of ODF. The residents are very enthusiastic and work together to dig and build latrines in their neighborhood,” said Meyta.

Then, Syafrudin in his speech gave appreciation to all parties for implementing the STOP-BABS declaration in Kalodran village today and motivated the hard work done so that this could be a good practice to be brought to the afterlife.

“The implementation of this declaration is clearly inseparable from the hard work of all parties, both from LKC Dompet Dhuafa, Walantaka Sub-district, Head of Kalodran Village, cadres, health center, RT, RW, and all communities who have been willing to work together. Hopefully, this can be followed as soon as possible by other villages and for residents who have built their family latrines so that they can use and maintain the latrines,” said Syafrudin.

Furthermore, on the same occasion, Karsono revealed that this declaration indicates that the people of Kalodran village have been freed from BABS.

“Hopefully, the villages that have not been declared can follow soon, to be known to 14 villages throughout Walantaka District, 5 villages have declared STOP-BABS and others are in the process of the declaration,” said Karsono.

Then, Ninis representing Kalodran village read out the text of the declaration of Kalodran Village which stated that from now on Kalodran Village STOP-BABS, this indicates that in Kelodran village there are no more residents who do not have latrines and defecate indiscriminately.

After that, the activity continued with awarding awards to LKC-DD Banten and Serang City STMB Mobilization Volunteers and signing a declaration of integrity facts related to the support of the STOP-BABS movement. (Dompet Dhuafa / LKC / Banten)
