BEKASI, WEST JAVA – The Lembaga Pelayan Masyarakat (LPM) Dompet Dhuafa successfully distributed a total of 300 School Kit Packages for orphans and provided assistance to 30 Quran teachers during the month of Muharram 1445 H in various areas across the Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, Tangerang, and Bekasi (Jabodetabek) region. Finally, on Friday (8/11/2023), 50 School Kit Packages were distributed to orphaned children in the South Bekasi sub-district.
Ahmad Fitroh, the Program’s PIC, stated that Muharram is a special month, one of its special characteristics being referred to as the “Orphan’s Eid.” This year, Muharram 1445 H coincides with the new school semester for orphaned children. This activity is a form of support for orphaned children and Quran teachers to stay motivated in teaching and learning, and to welcome the New Hijri Year with joy.
“With the help of school supplies, we hope to make orphaned children happy and ease the economic burden on their families. The School Kit Packages distributed include bags, water bottles, books, and stationery and are distributed in the Jabodetabek area,” he said.

One of the benefit recipients, Hafiz, a fourth-grade elementary school student, expressed his happiness. He also mentioned that he would study diligently to fulfill his dream of becoming a religious teacher like his own teacher. Hafiz said that being a Quran teacher is a way to remain a good person and to pass on the knowledge he possesses.
“I’m very happy to receive school supplies, which can be used for studying. I will save some of my pocket money to buy school supplies and also to give to my mother. When I grow up, I want to become a Quran teacher to be a good person,” he said while receiving the gifts in Bekasi, on Friday (8/11/2023).

I usually teach the Arabic alphabet at one of the TPA centers in Margahayu Sub-district, Bekasi. Alhamdulillah, this assistance will hopefully motivate me to teach with more patience, flexibility, and diligence in educating children in the assembly or TPA. (Dompet Dhuafa/LPM/Ray/Muthohar)
