Mazawa KalTeng Competition, Creative Efforts of Dompet Dhuafa and HMPS to Improve ZISWAF Literacy Through Digitalization

PALANGKA RAYA — On Saturday (11/2/2023), the Mazawa Digital Festival 1.0 Competition with the theme ‘Millennial Melek Zakat Waqf’’ (the literacy of Zakat Waqf for Millennials) has been successfully held by the Zakat and Waqf Management Study Program Student Association (HMPS). Fully supported by Dompet Dhuafa Central Kalimantan as the sole donor, the activity was animated by 28 equivalent high schools from all over Palangka Raya.

In context, the Mazawa Digital Festival 1.0 Competition is divided into 2 (two) categories, namely the Competition to Make Digital Posters and Creative Videos uploaded on the social media platforms Tiktok and Instagram. When the results were collected, the participants’ work showed how creative and innovative millennials are utilizing digital media. This activity is an essential step in helping to improve Zakat and Waqf’s literacy through creative means and digital transformation among the community, especially the younger generation.

At the beginning of the event, the Head of the Waqf Zakat Management Study Program, Muhammad Noor Sayuti, B.A., M.E said, “In the hands of the millennial generation, it is hoped that digital transformation in the management of Zakat and Waqf will develop more rapidly.”

In line with that, the person in charge of the Dompet Dhuafa Program in Central Kalimantan, Puji Siswanto, also appreciated the participation of all schools in the activity. He also hopes to synergize with other Amil Zakat Institutions to improve zakat and waqf literacy in the community.

“This is proof of how important it is to increase the awareness of the younger generation towards Zakat and Waqf in a creative and digitized way,” said Puji.
