Now the Call to Prayer is Ringing Loudly in Mbaglumbu Hamlet, Ponorogo

PONOROGO, EAST JAVA — Praise be to God, the Baitulrohman Mosque in Mbaglumbu Hamlet has been completely restored. After a long struggle since 2019, the only mainstay place of worship for the people of Mbaglumbu is now standing strong again. The residents are happier and smiling even wider.

That morning, Friday (12/8/2022), the East Java Dompet Dhuafa team traveled to Mbaglumbu Hamlet, Gajah Village, Sambit District, Ponorogo Regency. In addition to gathering with the residents, the Dompet Dhuafa team also held Friday prayers at the Baitulrohman Mosque. On that occasion, residents also asked the East Java Branch Manager of Dompet Dhuafa, Kholid Abdillah, to be able to deliver the Friday sermon there.

“All goodness based on honest and confident desires, God willing, will be realized by Allah. Like the reestablishment of this mosque. Increase our gratitude by caring for and prospering this mosque. A mosque built with sincere desire and honesty from its founders and congregation,” said Kholid Abdillah.

Looking back, Nurhadi, the young manager of the Baitulrohman mosque in Mbaglumbu Hamlet, together with other managers, in 2019, wanted to restore the main mosque in Mbaglumbu Hamlet. They made it a mosque with the intention that residents could worship more comfortably, have a stronger building foundation, and of course be more spacious.

“To put it simply, we want the people of Mbaglumbu to be more active in praying in congregation, if there are big religious events it will also be more comfortable, the children will enjoy reciting the Koran. So that Friday prayers do not require going to another village and worship is not exposed to the rain,” hoped Nurhadi.

And in 2020, the people of Mbaglumbu worked together again. Tearing down the Baitulrohman Mosque and making efforts to rebuild it using light brick walls. Nurhadi again said that construction was carried out in stages due to constraints on costs and builders.

Measuring 7×5 m2, the Baitulrohman Mosque has now stood firmly, with its green, rustic colors and cool air temperature, adding to the coolness as we begin to perform ablution with water flowing from mountain springs. Yes, after a long struggle, the construction process of the Baitulrohman Mosque is now complete. The great hope of the people of Mbaglumbu, the sound of the Adhan resounds loudly again.

“At that time there was no mosque, the residents prayed in congregation far away in other villages, some did not even pray on Fridays. Our house was also a place for children to learn to recite the Koran. Then, thank God, the community worked together to build a mosque measuring 5×5 m2 made of woven bamboo, and my father, Mr. Mismanto, was entrusted with the role of mosque caretaker here. However, we still can’t pray on Fridays,” recalled Nurhadi.
