JAKARTA — Collaboration as a form of concern for the people of Palestine continues to emerge gradually. This time, Oelek, a culinary sambal producer, has taken concrete humanitarian action by channeling a humanitarian donation of IDR 15,000,000 through Dompet Dhuafa on Tuesday (14/11/2023), at the Philanthropy Building, South Jakarta.
On this occasion, Carel Setiawan, the owner of Oelek, expressed his concern for the humanitarian crisis in Palestine. He then decided to set aside a portion of his business profits as a form of humanitarian action there.
“This donation comes from Oelek’s profits. Moved by the humanitarian crisis in Palestine, we felt compelled to contribute. Watching the news has really awakened us. We couldn’t stand by idly. We felt compelled to act, to help the Palestinian community there,” he said.

Carel admitted that Oelek needed a trustworthy platform for collaboration in channeling donations. He sincerely hoped that the donations set aside by Oelek could be distributed and received by the needy Palestinian community.
“Thank you for trusting Dompet Dhuafa to channel humanitarian donations to the Palestinian people,” said Diana Rahma, Officer Partnership at Dompet Dhuafa, in response to this donation.
Inspired by other donors, Oelek, established during the Covid-19 pandemic, was motivated to make its own contributions. Before this, Oelek had also carried out many charity actions with its employees. Loudly, Carel also expressed concern for the Palestinian people and contributed by donating.

“Hopefully, the conflict in Palestine will quickly find peace,” Carel hoped.
Dompet Dhuafa itself has several aid distribution schemes to ensure aid reaches the hands of the Palestinian people directly. On November 4, 2023, Dompet Dhuafa successfully sent a 1-ton aid package along with the Indonesian government’s humanitarian mission.
Moreover, Dompet Dhuafa is always connected with local partners in Gaza, Palestine, to carry out and distribute rapid assistance in the form of basic needs and victim evacuation. If possible, when the situation stabilizes, Dompet Dhuafa is ready to immediately procure ambulance units and medical equipment.
