HATAY, TURKEY — On Saturday (25/2/2023), PLN Indonesia Power distributed 350 portions of ready-to-eat food for survivors of the Turkey Earthquake disaster in Gida Ith Ihr Nak Top, Antakya District, Hatay Province. The survivors also seemed to be devouring the dishes given.
Through the Disaster Management Center (DMC) unit of Dompet Dhuafa, ready-to-eat food assistance was distributed with local volunteers. Accompanied by cold nights and sober lighting, survivors flocked in line to eat warm dishes to survive the cold midnight.
“Nights with cold temperatures, families, children, and parents get help with ready-to-eat food. Hopefully, this will not reduce their enthusiasm and hope to stay strong through the ordeal of this earthquake,” said DMC Dompet Dhuafa Response-Recovery Manager, Narwan, when contacted via short message.

In rural areas, an estimated 4.7 million people—including 1.5 million children and more than 1.74 million refugees and migrants—are expected to have difficulty accessing food supplies. According to the UN report on Humanitarian Affairs, it can cause moderate to severe acute malnutrition and put pregnant and lactating women (PLHIV), children, the elderly, and people with disabilities at certain risks.
“There is only one way to describe what I see today: apocalyptic. Entire settlements have been razed, houses destroyed, schools and shops closed, and life torn apart. The scale of the devastation here is completely incomprehensible,” said David M. Beasley, Executive Director of the UN World Food Programme (WFP).
