YOGYAKARTA — Efforts to reduce stunting rates and raise public awareness about the dangers of tuberculosis (TB) continue to be carried out by the Free Health Service (LKC) Dompet Dhuafa Yogyakarta. On Monday (September 30, 2025), through a Toddler Mother Class themed “Nutrition Management to Prevent Stunting in Children,” LKC Dompet Dhuafa accompanied 20 mothers and their toddlers in Bendo Hamlet, Wukisari, Imogiri, Bantul.
The mothers who attended not only received counseling on balanced nutrition for children but also important education about TB, which remains a health threat to the people of Bantul.
The activity was divided into two sessions. The first session was led by Sehva Pangestika, a Community Health Empowerment Facilitator at LKC Dompet Dhuafa Yogyakarta. In her session, Sehva explained the urgency of fulfilling balanced nutrition for children from an early age as a key step in preventing stunting.

“We provide information on various food ingredients, age-appropriate meal portions, feeding rules to ensure children get optimal nutrition, and ways to prepare nutritious meals that are easy to do at home,” explained Sehva.

Meanwhile, the second session was led by Inggrid Dwi, Community Health Empowerment Officer at LKC Dompet Dhuafa Yogyakarta. During her session, Inggrid raised the issue of tuberculosis. According to data from the Health Office, as of May 2025, there were 327 cases of tuberculosis in Bantul Regency, with toddlers and the elderly being the most vulnerable groups.
“TB is not just a disease that affects adults. Infants are also vulnerable to exposure, so early detection and prevention must begin at home. Improving air circulation, maintaining environmental hygiene, and ensuring nutritional intake are the main keys,” Inggrid emphasized.

In addition to the presentation of the material, participants also took a pre-test and post-test to measure their understanding of child nutrition and TB prevention. The results are expected to form the basis for follow-up health assistance in the target area.
Marlina, one of the health cadres in Bendo Village, appreciated this activity. She said, “Thank you to LKC Dompet Dhuafa for accompanying mothers of toddlers and cadres here. We are now more confident in caring for children so that they grow up healthy and their rights are fulfilled.” (Dompet Dhuafa)
