ROTE NDAO, EAST NUSA TENGGARA -– PT POS Properti Indonesia’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program is collaborating with Dompet Dhuafa during this year’s Eid al-Adha celebration in 2025. The initiative involves the distribution of four cows, benefiting over 300 households in the areas of Oeseli, Oelaba, and Ndao Island, Rote Ndao, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT).
Rote Ndao itself is the southernmost outer island of Indonesia, directly bordering Australia. Most of the Muslim residents in Rote Ndao live along the coast of the island, with a total of 11 mosques on Rote Ndao Island. The diversity and harmony on this island are truly beautiful. PT POS Properti Indonesia hopes that this Eid al-Adha sacrifice will bring benefits to the residents who are entitled to receive the sacrificial meat in Rote Ndao.

“This is the process of qurbani animals in Oeseli Village, where the animals are covered with a cloth over their heads during slaughter, as requested by Prophet Ismail to his father, Prophet Ibrahim, who wanted his face to be covered with a cloth and his eyes closed when he was sacrificed,” said Mr. Ahmad Saleh, one of the religious leaders in Oeseli Village.
One of the qurbani animals from PT POS Properti Indonesia was distributed in Oeseli Village. Oeseli itself is located at the tip of Rote Island, where the majority of its residents work as fishermen and processors of various natural products found in the coastal area. In the village, there is also one mosque that serves as one of the distribution points for sacrificial animals.

One of the families of fishermen at sea is the family of Mrs. Saliha. She shared that she lives with her children, who are also fishermen, while Mrs. Saliha herself sometimes makes handicrafts from dried coconut leaves when there are orders. When there are no orders, Mrs. Saliha goes to the forest near the beach with other women there to collect wood, walking all the way.
Mrs. Saliha shared that when the wind is strong at sea and they can’t go out fishing, they only eat rice without any side dishes. This is because there is no income from fishing.

“It’s been a long time since we last had beef. It could be a year, or during Eid al-Adha, or only during family gatherings. I’m happy that my family can eat beef. This sacrificial beef will be stir-fried or cooked for the family,” she said.
Mrs. Saliha and other residents along the coast of Oeseli are very happy with the sacrificial offerings in their village.
“Thank you very much to PT POS Properti Indonesia and Dompet Dhuafa for the sacrifice. We have prayed many prayers for PT POS Properti Indonesia,” said Mrs. Saliha. (Dompet Dhuafa)
