CAKUNG, EAST JAKARTA — “Well, I want to buy a TV, for my mom at home,” admitted Hafiz (10) to the Dompet Dhuafa Companion Volunteer, when asked about what he wanted when Dompet Dhuafa rolled out the Belanja Bareng Yatim (Shopping with Orphans) program at Lulu Hypermarket Cakung, Saturday (1/4/2023).

“So that Mom won’t be lonely when her children are playing and going to school,” he continued.

Yes, Hafiz remembered his mom in the middle of that moment. On the occasion he got that afternoon, he chose to spend on basic necessities (rice, cooking oil, etc.), as well as food and drinks in preparation for the upcoming Eid al-Fitr.

Dompet Dhuafa volunteers also accompanied the orphan children shopping at LuLu Hypermarket Cakung.

Accompanying Hafiz to do shopping, Dewi, as the Dompet Dhuafa Companion Volunteer, was also moved.

“I didn’t expect it, if it turned out that Hafiz would remember his mom. Oh yes, Hafiz is outstanding, he ranks in the top 10 in his class. And it turns out that the subject with the highest score is Arabic,” explained Dewi.

Hafiz again expressed his interest in Arabic, so that later he could dispatch and accompany his mother to perform the Hajj.

“So that when we go to Arabia later, I’ll be able to talk fluently,” said Hafiz, innocently.

“I want to dispatch mom to perform the Hajj, Hafiz will also accompany. Everyday I’ve been saving money in a piggy bank since the first grade of elementary school,” he added.

A total of 15 orphan children, cheerfully participated in the Shopping with Orphans program which was then continued by breaking the fast together at LuLu Hypermart Cakung. The program is a synergy of kindness of Ramadan 1444 H by Dompet Dhuafa with LuLu Hypermarket & Department Store.

This is not the first time LuLu Hypermarket has collaborated with Dompet Dhuafa in the synergy of kindness. Previously, the cooperation was implemented through Program Infak via Kasir (the Giving Alms via Cashier program) which were applied in all LuLu Hypermarket branches.

“Together with LuLu, we held Infak via Kasir CSR program, Tebar Hewan Kurban or THK (Distributing Sacrificial Animals) on Eid-al Adha, and Shopping with Orphans during Ramadan. Alhamdulillah, Dompet Dhuafa sees LuLu Hypermarket as having the same mission in kindness, as well as strong potential through its consumers. This is a value in ZISWAF (Zakat, Infak, Alms, and Waqf) syiar,” explained Ahmad Faqih as General Manager (GM) Resources Mobilization ZIS Dompet Dhuafa, before the shopping was held.
