BOGOR, WEST JAVA — The Rumah Sehat Terpadu Foundation (RST) conducted a soft launch for the Underprivileged Medical Treatment Platform in Kemang, Bogor, on Tuesday (16/1/2024). This online platform is accessible at www.pengobatandhuafa.or.id.

This platform initiates a movement of kindness, inviting individuals from all walks of life to contribute. These contributions will then be used to assist with the costs of treating underprivileged patients, covering patient transportation expenses, and upgrading medical equipment in seven Dompet Dhuafa hospitals.

Currently, the National Health Insurance (JKN) does not cover all medical expenses. Therefore, donations through the Underprivileged Medical Treatment Platform are essential to cover additional costs. For instance, there was a case at the RST Hospital where a woman had to sell her dishes to afford a minibus fare to the hospital for dialysis. Ismail A Said, Chairman of the Rumah Sehat Terpadu Foundation, shared this story during his address.

drg. Rima Febrianti MARS, Medical Services Director at RST Dompet Dhuafa Hospital, noted that as of now, 36.4% of patients treated at RST are JKN benefit rexipients receiving Contribution Assistance (PBI). These patients, when in need of long-term care, face expenses amounting to approximately IDR 150 million, while their insurance coverage only extends to about IDR 60 million.

“What about the remaining IDR 90 million? That’s the gap the Underprivileged Medical Treatment Platform aims to fill,” she remarked.

Additionally, Ariadi Anaya, Director of PT Aquila Digital Ventures and one of the platform’s developers, mentioned that this noble initiative stemmed from the common tendency of people to neglect giving unless reminded. Hence, a reminder system like the Underprivileged Medical Treatment Platform is deemed necessary.

“We are dedicating this platform and have made it user-friendly for contributors. We hope it proves to be useful,” he commented. (Dompet Dhuafa/RST/Muthohar)
