BOGOR — Leadership is not merely about how someone leads others. It is about how someone is able to take initiative, foster a sense of responsibility, communicate wisely, and find solutions to every challenge. These values slowly shape character, while preparing someone to face an increasingly dynamic world. Thus, having a spirit of leadership is very important for the nation’s future generations.
Dompet Dhuafa, as an institution that focuses on education, continues to expand its wings through strategic partnerships. Its mission is to produce a generation of leaders with noble character. To realize this mission, Dompet Dhuafa has once again received a mandate of kindness from PT Jasa Sarana. This mandate is in the form of a Basic Leadership Training Program for students of SMART Ekselensia Indonesia Dompet Dhuafa. The symbolic handover of the program took place at the SMART Ekselensia school in Parung, Bogor.
SMART Ekselensia Indonesia itself is a leadership-based school managed by Dompet Dhuafa and has been established since 2004. PT Jasa Sarana shares the same commitment as Dompet Dhuafa in supporting the emergence of a new generation of intelligent, characterful, and leadership-minded individuals. Based on this shared mission, PT Jasa Sarana has channeled its corporate zakat to this program.
As part of the program implementation, SMART Ekselensia Indonesia Dompet Dhuafa also held a Basic Leadership Training (PDK). The activity involved 183 students from grades VII to XII. The Basic Leadership Training is the first stage of five levels of leadership at SMART Ekselensia, ranging from grooming to bootcamp.
The PDK series focused on scouting material. Starting from an introduction to the scout and guide levels, survival skills, first aid (P3K) to filling out the Special Proficiency Badge (TKK) and General Proficiency Badge (TKU).
The students showed great enthusiasm starting seven days before the event by preparing various equipment. They even helped their younger classmates make stakes, set up tents, and other necessities.
To train their endurance, participants were challenged to walk 700 meters to the campsite, crossing rivers and muddy paths. Through these activities, they learned to hone their physical toughness and survival skills.

Ustaz Nizar, as the person in charge of PDK, expressed his hope that scouting skills can be applied in everyday life. This will serve as valuable preparation for moving on to higher levels.
“The hope is that they will be able to apply the skills they have learned in scouting in their daily lives. So, they can apply and practice them in their daily lives. The hope is that they will be able to pursue higher levels of career, including when they succeed in achieving the title of Pramuka Garuda, they will have more access to enter state universities,” said Ustaz Nizar.
In addition, the highlight of the event was marked by the welcoming of guests and the official inauguration of SMART Ekselensia scout members. Students in grades VII to X are now officially members of the scout and guide organizations. Then, students in grade XII were promoted from Bantara to Laksana.
This support is a tangible manifestation of PT Jasa Sarana’s commitment to providing education to the nation’s children. Of course, the focus is not only on academic aspects, but also on the development of strong character and leadership skills.
