WEST JAVA — Muhammad Ivan Zidan, commonly called Ivan, is a visually impaired person and the eldest of two children. Ivan is 18 years old and is currently studying at the Qurani Generation Disability Boarding School since 2021. The story of Ivan and the Pesantren began when the mother looked for a disability boarding school for her child until she finally found a pesantren located in Cianjur.
“At first, my mother was looking for a disability boarding school. I have searched around the holy, but nothing. Finally, thank God I met in Cianjur and immediately registered here online. He said that even though he was far away while studying, “Ivan told the Dompet Dhuafa team when they met at the Islamic boarding school on Tuesday (11/10/2022).
Until now, Ivan has memorized more than 15 juz. He began to study the Qur’an as a child. “I started learning the Qur’an from grade 1 elementary school when I was six years old,” said the student from Kudus, Central Java.
Ivan said that his first study of the Qur’an did not immediately use the Qur’an. However, he learned it through the medium of sound, namely with MP3, listening to the murottal of the Qur’an. Meanwhile, he recently began to learn to use the Qur’an in braille as a medium for memorizing it.
“After dawn, my activity here is memorizing the Qur’an. After that breakfast, a special formal school SLB (Extraordinary School), after that lessons from pesantren, after that zuhr prayers, then eat and rest until Ashar. Then after that, it was extra-curricular,” Ivan said about his activities at the Islamic boarding school.

In addition to memorizing the Qur’an, Ivan enjoys chanting the Prophet’s prayers. There are many shi’ir Salawat that he has memorized. He often hears chants from teachers in his boarding school. He was also happy and often heard and chanted.
On Tuesday (11/10/2022), the Dompet Dhuafa and Tokopedia teams visited the Insani Education Foundation PERSADA Pesantren Disability Generation Qurani, Palasari Village, Cipanas District, Cianjur Regency to donate Qur’an Braille.
With the donation of the Qur’an Braille from Dompet Dhuafa, Ivan significantly helped memorize the Qur’an. He said, “Thank you, Dompet Dhuafa and Tokopedia, for their help. God willing, it will be useful for all of us”. (Dompet Dhuafa/Muhaitsam)
