ACEH TAMIANG —–— Activities in Dusun Tengah, Desa Kesehatan, Karang Baru Subdistrict, Aceh Tamiang Regency, have begun to return to normal after residents were evacuated and have now returned to their homes. However, mud still covers the alleys and yards. In some areas, puddles of water remain, providing a breeding ground for mosquito larvae.
One resident of Dusun Tengah, Bambang (36), complained about the conditions in his neighborhood, which has become infested with mosquitoes, especially at night. He and his family, who have returned to their homes after a month of living in refugee tents, are uncomfortable due to the mosquitoes.
“The mosquitoes are indeed overwhelming in number. Since the water receded, the mosquito larvae have hatched, resulting in a large number of mosquitoes. Even mosquito repellent is ineffective due to their sheer numbers. We cannot sleep well at night. We often wake up in the middle of the night due to mosquito bites,” he said.

Not only Bambang, but many residents in Dusun Tengah also complained about the presence of these mosquitoes. In response to this situation, on Friday (9/1/2026), Dompet Dhuafa through its Disaster Management Center (DMC) conducted fogging around the area to eradicate the rampant mosquito infestation.
Ahmad Yamin, the Disaster Response Coordinator for DMC Dompet Dhuafa in Aceh Tamiang, explained that the DMC team, along with volunteers, included fogging as part of the series of services for affected residents.
“We often receive complaints from affected residents about the proliferation of mosquitoes, so we are also focusing on eradicating mosquitoes through fogging. Hopefully, this can serve as a mitigation effort against the emergence of mosquito-borne diseases,” he said.
