PRINGSEWU, LAMPUNG –— The faces of the students at the El Banun Quranic School, located in Pekon Kepurtran, Sukoharjo Subdistrict, Pringsewu Regency, Lampung, were beaming with joy. And for good reason: the Dompet Dhuafa Lampung team had arrived to distribute dozens of copies of the Quran to this remote area.
This Quran distribution activity by Dompet Dhuafa Lampung at the El Banun Islamic School was the result of a collaboration with students participating in the University of Lampung (Unila) Community Service Program (KKN) for Period I of 2022. A total of 50 copies of the Quran were successfully distributed to remote areas of Lampung—including Pekon Keputran—on Wednesday, February 23, 2022.

Yogi Achmad Fajar, Head of the Dompet Dhuafa Lampung Branch, explained that this initiative is the result of the Quran Donation Program that Dompet Dhuafa Lampung has been promoting through the Kitabisa.com platform. Seeing the large number of mosques and Islamic boarding schools facing a shortage of Qurans—which are desperately needed, especially by the students—Dompet Dhuafa Lampung sought to provide a solution through this Quran Donation Program.
“The Quran Donation Program is an initiative we’ve been promoting on the fundraising platform Kitabisa.com. Alhamdulillah, the public response to this program has been very positive. Currently, in several remote areas of Lampung, there are still many mosques and Islamic boarding schools facing a shortage of Qur’ans. We have also witnessed firsthand in remote areas such as Pesawaran Regency and East Lampung Regency that many students still lack Qur’ans,” Yogi explained via text message.

In addition, Yogi explained that the enthusiasm of the students—who are eager to seek knowledge and memorize the Quran—touches all our hearts, inspiring us to help those in need. According to an assessment conducted by the Dompet Dhuafa Lampung team, these students are forced to take turns using worn-out copies of the Quran in order to pursue their studies.
“Yet the students there are very enthusiastic about studying and memorizing the Quran. There are dozens, even hundreds of students who have to use worn-out Qurans or take turns studying because the number of Qurans is limited,” he continued.

This is not the first time Dompet Dhuafa Lampung has distributed copies of the Quran to remote areas in the Lampung region. Over the past two months, Dompet Dhuafa Lampung has successfully distributed 240 copies of the Quran to various locations throughout the Lampung region. In fact, there will be further distributions in the future to ensure that even the most remote areas of Lampung, without exception, are reached.

“In January and February 2022, Alhamdulillah, we have distributed 240 copies of the Quran to various remote areas of Lampung, namely Pesawaran Regency, West Tulang Bawang Regency, Tulang Bawang Regency, and Pringsewu Regency. Moving forward, Dompet Dhuafa Lampung’s distribution of Qur’ans will continue in order to reach other remote areas in Lampung,” concluded Yogi.
With innocent faces and happy smiles, the students from the El Banun Quranic School—who are currently benefiting from Dompet Dhuafa Lampung’s “Sedekah Quran” program—did not forget to express their heartfelt gratitude to everyone involved in this act of kindness. “Thank you, friends of Dompet Dhuafa Lampung and #OrangBaik; these Qur’ans mean so much to us,” said the students of TPA El Banun as they expressed their gratitude.
