The Indonesian Government Appreciates Dompet Dhuafa for Building Permanent Housing for Flood Survivors in Pakistan

SINDH, PAKISTAN — The floods in Pakistan have had a profound impact on the people of Sindh. Thousands of flood survivors are still without adequate shelter. Thousands of survivors are still living in refugee tents, compounded by the economic crisis in the country.

Dompet Dhuafa is collaborating with the Indonesian Embassy in Islamabad and the Indonesian Consulate General in Karachi, the Ministry of Coordinating Human Development and Culture, and the National Disaster Management Authority (BNPB) to support the construction of temporary housing for flood survivors in Pakistan.

“Thank you to the Indonesian people and Dompet Dhuafa for providing homes for flood survivors in Pakistan at Chuhar Jamali, Sindh,” said the Indonesian Consul General in Karachi, Dr. June Kuncoro, during his visit on Saturday (September 24, 2022).

Meanwhile, Budhi Erwanto, a representative from BNPB, said, “I am surprised by the hard work and speed with which permanent houses were built for flood survivors in Sindh in just five days. This has inspired us to mobilize, support, and implement the program carried out by our fellow citizens in Pakistan.“

On the other hand, Muhajir Effendy, Minister of the Coordinating Ministry for Human Development and Culture, expressed his appreciation, ”Thank you for the cooperation and solidarity from Dompet Dhuafa in building houses to help survivors in Sindh, Pakistan.”

Dompet Dhuafa will continue to encourage and roll out collaborative assistance for flood survivors in Pakistan. Through partnerships with various stakeholders, particularly the Indonesian government.
