BREMEN, GERMANY —-— After five days of intensive training, the Dai Ambassadors of Dompet Dhuafa officially departed for their respective countries of assignment. One of them is Wahyu Septrianto, S.Ag., M.Ag., who has been entrusted with carrying out Dompet Dhuafa’s da’wah mission in Germany. He must undertake a long journey by air to reach his assigned country. At Soekarno-Hatta Airport, after a prayer and a brief message from a representative of Dompet Dhuafa, he was ready to embark on his journey to Europe.

“This is my first experience traveling long distances. On this mission, I had to take a flight of approximately 18 hours, including a 3-hour transit in Istanbul, Turkey. Even though it was my first experience traveling long distances across continents without anyone accompanying me. Doubts did cross my mind, but the belief that Allah SWT would grant ease for sincere intentions continued to strengthen my resolve,” explained Wahyu Septrianto to the Dompet Dhuafa team on Friday (February 20, 2026).

A Long Journey for a Noble Mission of Da’wah

Wahyu recounted that after a long and smooth journey, he arrived at Bremen Airport at 9:00 a.m. local time. Of course, upon arriving in Germany, the cold weather was the first thing that greeted Wahyu.

“Upon arrival at the airport, Mr. Gery Vidjaja, Mr. Jundu Hanafi, and Mr. Aditya Saty, Indonesian expatriates who are members of the Indonesian Muslim Family in Bremen (KMIB), which is also a partner of Dompet Dhuafa, welcomed me. However, during the trip to the location, the very cold temperature, reaching -7o Celsius, was a new challenge. Occasionally, snow fell gently. This scene was an incredibly memorable first experience. Something almost impossible to encounter in Indonesia. Masyaallah, the greatness of Allah SWT felt tangible in the white expanse covering the city of Bremen,” added Wahyu.

About 15 minutes later, he and his entourage arrived at the Ar-Raudhah Mosque, the main place for preaching during his stay in Bremen, Germany. The mosque was simple and not large, but the spirit of Islam that lived within it felt very strong. The arrival of Dai Ambassador Dompet Dhuafa was welcomed by dozens of Indonesian diaspora who were members of KMIB. The atmosphere was very warm, like a big family. The mothers were busy cooking in the kitchen, while others brought food from home to eat together. The students prepared the venue and equipment for the event, while the children continued to attend TPA activities and learn to recite the Quran, as it was their scheduled day. Of course, everything made it feel warm in the midst of the very cold weather.

The Warmth of the Muslim Family in Bremen

“My Muslim brothers and sisters in Bremen had prepared an event. During the break, I was called to attend the series of events. The event was opened by the host and a speech from Mr. Gery Vidjaja as the Chairman of KMIB. Next, I had the opportunity to introduce myself to the entire congregation. Then the event continued with the Tarhib Ramadan tausiyah,” said Wahyu.

This was a deep first impression for Wahyu Septrianto, which he felt from the very first day. Despite being a Muslim minority, the Indonesian community in Bremen is able to strongly uphold Islamic teachings. Harmony, unity, and enthusiasm in welcoming the holy month of Ramadan 1447 AH are proof that da’wah knows no geographical boundaries. In a country far from their homeland, Islam remains alive, warm, humble, and full of love. (Dompet Dhuafa)
