GUNUNGKIDUL, YOGYAKARTA — Mastering digital devices is one of the key requirements for thriving in today’s modern era. This is fully recognized by the Indonesian Literacy School (SLI) Dompet Dhuafa in its efforts to support partners from the education sector.
With this in mind, SLI Dompet Dhuafa organized a training session on poster design and twibbon creation using graphic design applications at SD Negeri Gunungsari, Gunungkidul, Yogyakarta, on Wednesday (September 14, 2022). The event was attended by 10 participants from various partner schools supported by SLI Dompet Dhuafa Yogyakarta.
The participants, who are teachers, were very enthusiastic about participating in this activity. They felt that this activity was also useful for other purposes outside of their daily teaching activities.
The material was presented by Reski Raezita, Samsiyati, and Lulu, who are graduates of the first cohort of the Digital SLI program. During the training, they explained several features available on Canva that teachers can utilize to design posters or other materials to enhance the quality of their school’s publications.
Reski Raezita explained the steps to publish a news article or school article. She discussed good guidelines, layout, and what makes a publication interesting. She also explained the benefits of design for an attractive publication.
The training was not only theoretical but also included hands-on practice with the participants. The participants immediately applied what they learned in the training and the materials in practical exercises.

Practical training on how to create attractive posters and twibbons for publication. Not only that, participants were able to ask questions and receive guidance from the basics to understand the various features available on Canva.
“Alhamdulillah, thank you for the knowledge. We are ready to apply and utilize this knowledge for our madrasah publications,” said Nur Rahma Wati, MIM Blembem.
He greatly appreciated this activity and also expressed his gratitude for the knowledge I have gained to advance the publications of his madrasah and school. Dompet Dhuafa will continue to carry out similar activities, even on a larger scale, to equip the community to face the digital era.
