JAKARTA – The series of obligatory worship in the month of Ramadan is a momentum for every Muslim as a form of servitude to the Creator. One of the obligatory acts of worship that must be performed is zakat fitrah, which purifies one’s wealth and soul to return to its original state.
Therefore, there is a need for early introduction and education about zakat fitrah for every Muslim generation. In this case, to create a generation that is aware of the obligation to pay zakat fitrah, Early Step Kindergarten and Bangun Mandiri Elementary School held a Cheerful Ramadan activity with Dompet Dhuafa, on Tuesday (03/26/2024).
The Cheerful Ramadan activity with the theme “Ramadan Brings Us Closer, Ramadan Strengthens Us” is filled with a variety of activities such as Zakat Day so that children can directly pay zakat fitrah (obligatory charity) by themselves, accompanied by amils (charity collectors) from Dompet Dhuafa. In addition, this activity also included a story about sharing happiness with orphans and a performance by the Trashic music group made up of students from SMART Ekselensia Indonesia Dompet Dhuafa.

In this series of Ramadan activities, Bangun Mandiri Elementary School also distributed donations for orphans with the aim of fostering love for others and caring for those in need. While some Muslims easily celebrate Ramadan with joy with their families, it turns out that there are still many other Muslims who cannot feel it, especially Muslim brothers and sisters who are orphans.

Rita Amaliani, Director of Early Step Kindergarten Education, said that the series of activities that have been carried out during the month of Ramadan are expected to teach children about worship, which has been mandatory since childhood. According to her, this activity is very positive and, God willing, will be easy for children to remember because it is a direct practice.
