Tracking Dompet Dhuafa’s Empowerment Initiatives: 50 Journalists Witness Firsthand the Fruits of Trustworthy Zakat Management

BOGOR —-— To mark the 21st day of Ramadan 1447 H, Dompet Dhuafa invited 50 journalists from various media outlets to explore the Madina Zone in Parung, Bogor, West Java, on Wednesday (March 11, 2026). The event, titled “Press Touring: Zakat Is Kalcer,” is part of Dompet Dhuafa’s Ramadan campaign to introduce the Madina Zone as an integrated community empowerment area funded by ZISWAF (Zakat, Infak, Sedekah, and Wakaf).

The journey began at 10:00 AM WIB from the Philanthropy Building in South Jakarta, heading to the heart of community empowerment in Bogor. The first destination was the Plasma Ayam Arab Petelur economic empowerment program in Kampung Kemang, Jampang. At the Miftahul Jannah Islamic Boarding School, one of the program sites, the journalists observed firsthand a poultry farm with a capacity of 250 chickens capable of producing 150–160 eggs daily. It wasn’t just about observing; the media crew also experienced the thrill of harvesting eggs right at the coop.

“I’m so happy to have joined Dompet Dhuafa’s press tour. The event was exciting and fun because we got to explore the empowerment programs firsthand,” said Yalsa Awalita, a participant from Olenka Media.

After leaving the farm, the enticing aroma of coffee greeted the journalists at Madaya Coffee. Here, the Madaya Coffee team presented a variety of coffee blends produced through economic empowerment initiatives, ranging from Gayo, Solok, and Kemloko coffees to Kahaya Coffee, which has become an icon of Dompet Dhuafa’s coffee empowerment program. The entire process, from farmer empowerment to the coffee being served at the café table, was thoroughly explained.

“Dompet Dhuafa’s press tours are always exciting. There are many stories and sources of motivation we can draw from their programs,” said Azis, a journalist from Bens Radio who has participated in similar events several times.

The day’s excitement concluded with a Fun Baking session at Madina Bakery. Fifty journalists were challenged to get creative and bake their own bread. Laughter erupted as each group tried their hand at this new experience as bakers.

As the call to Maghrib prayer echoed, all participants finally broke their fast together before heading back to Jakarta, carrying stories of community self-reliance in the Madina Zone. (Dompet Dhuafa)
