The term tasyrik day is certainly familiar to the ears. Tasyrik day does not only apply a few days before Ramadan fasting and during Eid al-Fitr celebrations. It also applies when Muslims celebrate Eid al-Adha. In short, Tasyrik days are days when Muslims are prohibited from fasting. On these days, Muslims are commanded to eat, drink, and be grateful for the blessings given by Allah SWT. So, when are Tasyrik days? Check out the following complete review.
Tasyrik days fall on the 11th, 12th, and 13th of Dhu al-Hijjah. More precisely, these days fall on the three days after Eid al-Adha. After the Eid al-Adha celebrations or the slaughter of sacrificial animals, we enter the tasyrik days. In 2022, Tasyrik Day falls on July 11-13, 2022. Meanwhile, Eid al-Adha falls on July 10, 2022.
During the Tasyrik Day celebration, we are not allowed to fast, but rather to eat and drink. Of course, this must be accompanied by gratitude to Allah SWT. In addition, Muslims are also commanded to remember the Creator. This command was conveyed by the Prophet Muhammad SAW and immortalized in the hadith of Muslim. The command reads:
“From Nubaisyah Al-Hudzali, he said, the Prophet Muhammad SAW said, ‘The days of Tasyrik are days of eating, drinking (in another narration), and remembrance.’” (HR Muslim)
Virtues and Practices to be Performed on the Days of Tasyrik
The days of Tasyrik are not just days for eating sacrificial meat. Muslims are also required to increase their worship by remembering Allah on these days. The Prophet Muhammad SAW said that the days of Tasyrik have virtues that would be a shame to miss. These virtues are described in the following hadith:
“From the companion Ibn Abbas r.a., from the Prophet Muhammad SAW, he said, ‘There is no deed on these days that is more virtuous than on these days,’” (HR Bukhari)
To obtain these virtues during the days of Tasyrik, the following practices are recommended:
Increase Prayers
One of the activities that must be done more diligently during the days of Tasyrik is to increase prayers. This is a golden opportunity for our prayers to be heard and granted by Allah SWT. Therefore, do not hesitate to increase your prayers during these days.
Ask for forgiveness
Not only praying for our wishes to be granted, we must also not forget to ask for forgiveness. As humans, we are certainly not immune to mistakes. The sins we commit can become obstacles to our prayers being answered.
Therefore, do not forget to increase your istighfar and ask for forgiveness from Allah SWT. Hopefully, Allah will be willing to lighten or erase our sins.

Increase Takbir
In addition, another practice that can be done during the days of tasyrik is to increase takbir. Chanting takbir certainly serves as a reminder that Allah SWT is the Most Great. By saying takbir, it is hoped that our hearts will become calmer and certainly more humble. The virtue of increasing takbir was also conveyed by a companion of the Prophet named Ibn Abbas. This is summarized in the following hadith:
“Ibn Abbas ra. said, ‘Mention the name of Allah (remember Him) on certain days’ (Surah Al-Baqarah verse 203). ‘The 10th day and certain days are the Days of Tasyrik.’ The companions Ibn Umar and Abu Hurairah ra. went out to the market on the 10th day while reciting takbir. The people also recited takbir because of their takbir. Muhammad bin Ali also recited takbir after the sunnah prayer,” (HR Bukhari).
