JAKARTA – In this Ramadan 1446 H, Dompet Dhuafa together with the Hajj Financial Management Agency (BPKH) of the Republic of Indonesia held a Mosque Cleanup Action at 100 mosques in the Greater Jakarta area. One of them was at the Cut Nyak Dien Mosque, located in Menteng, Central Jakarta. Its location, which is close to Gondangdia Station, makes this mosque a frequent transit point for worship and temporary shelter for people on the move.

On Saturday morning (15/3/2025), the Clean Mosque Action began with cleaning all the air conditioners at the Cut Nyak Dien Mosque. This time, Dompet Dhuafa and the Indonesian National Board of Hajj and Pilgrimage involved air conditioner technicians from the Institute of Independence (IK), which is one of the results of the Dompet Dhuafa empowerment program.

“Today we cleaned a total of 12 air conditioners. We have checked them again, to make them cooler. So that the mosque congregation will be more comfortable spending their time worshiping here during Ramadan,” said Ikhwan, one of the people in charge of the AC technician team from IK.

In addition to cleaning the air conditioner, the carpet washing process is also carried out. The process is divided into three parts. First, dusting using a vacuum extractor. Second, washing the carpet with soap using a polisher machine. Finally, drying the carpet with a blower machine. The process takes three hours until the carpet is dry.

General Manager of Resources Mobilization Dompet Dhuafa, Ahmad Faqih Syarafaddin, said that the vital function of this mosque in the city center is the reason why this action is very important. Especially during the month of Ramadan when the number of congregations and activities increase.

“With the Indonesian National Mosque Board (BPKRI), there are 100 mosque cleaning action points in the Greater Jakarta area. We provide four types of assistance, namely carpet washing, air conditioner washing, distribution of hygiene kits, and renewal of prayer tools. We adjust to the needs of each mosque. At the Cut Nyak Dien Mosque, the needs are carpet washing and air conditioner washing,” explained Faqih.

The Head of the Program Division and Independent Implementer of the BPKH RI Kemaslahatan Program, Indriayu Afriana, explained that this action had been carried out in 80 mosques before and during the month of Ramadan, out of a total target of 100 mosques. Her party contributed by providing more up-to-date cleaning equipment to make the process run quickly and efficiently.

“This is the Ramadan Blessing Program from the Indonesian Central Board of Hajj and Umrah (BPKH RI), of course in collaboration with Dompet Dhuafa. This action was carried out based on the desire to share blessings with fellow Muslims during Ramadan. We know that cleaning mosque carpets is not easy, especially since it has to be done correctly so that congregations can worship comfortably. So we use more sophisticated tools,” said Indri.

The head of the Mosque Welfare Council (DKM) of the Cut Nyak Dien Mosque, Marfudin, welcomed the Mosque Cleanup Campaign with joy. This is the first time his party has received assistance in the form of free mosque cleaning.

“We have never had (received assistance in the form of mosque cleaning services) before Ramadan. It is really very happy. Moreover, the Cut Nyak Dien Mosque is very crowded. There are those who stop by to rest, ranging from traders, travelers, motorcycle taxi workers, and many more. There are also many activities during Ramadan. We are very grateful to Dompet Dhuafa and BPKH RI for their contributions,” said Mafrudin.

“Hopefully this collaboration with BPKH RI can benefit the wider community. People will feel more comfortable going to the mosque. Hopefully it will have an impact,” concluded Faqih. (Dompet Dhuafa)
