SOUTH SUMATRA – Entering the second week of the holy month of Ramadan, Dompet Dhuafa South Sumatra (South Sumatra) together with Telkomsel held a Mosque Cleanup Action on Saturday (08/03/2025). This action targeted the Asy-Sayyidah IBA Mosque and involved various elements, including the Telkomsel Team, Telkomsel Taklim Assembly, Dompet Dhuafa Volunteers, and the South Sumatra Dompet Dhuafa Ramadan Project Team.
The Mosque Clean-Up Action aims to create a clean and comfortable worship environment, so that the congregation can worship more solemnly. In addition, this activity is also a form of Dompet Dhuafa and Telkomsel’s concern in maintaining the cleanliness of houses of worship as centers of religious and social activity.
Representatives of Dompet Dhuafa South Sumatra said that this activity was not only about cleaning the mosque, but also reviving the spirit of gotong royong in the community, which is cool!
“Dompet Dhuafa and Telkomsel view the Clean Mosque Action at the Asy-Sayyidah IBA Mosque as a form of concern for the cleanliness of places of worship, so that congregants can worship more comfortably and solemnly. This activity also reflects the value of mutual cooperation and togetherness in maintaining the mosque environment as the center of Muslim spiritual and social activities,” said a representative of Dompet Dhuafa South Sumatra.

The action began at 09.00 WIB, starting with a meeting of all participants at the Asy-Sayyidah IBA Mosque. After receiving permission and direction from Ustaz Awaluddin as the mosque administrator, the team was divided into three groups with their respective tasks, to clean the area inside the mosque, the mosque yard, and the ablution area.
The participants enthusiastically cleaned the carpet, swept and mopped the floor, cleaned the windows, and tidied up various worship equipment. On the outside, another team made sure the mosque courtyard was free of garbage and dry leaves, while the group in the ablution area cleaned the water tanks, taps, and floors to keep it hygienic for the congregation.
The participants from Telkomsel Team also expressed their happiness to be involved in this activity. In addition to helping clean the mosque, they can also get to know the surrounding community and build togetherness. Especially before Ramadan, a clean mosque will certainly add to the comfort of worship.

As a form of support for the sustainability of mosque cleanliness, Telkomsel then handed over assistance in the form of cleaning tools. In addition, cash donations were also given to the Asy-Sayyidah IBA Mosque for the mosque’s operational needs.
This cleaning activity not only impacts the physical cleanliness of the mosque, but also builds a sense of togetherness and social care among participants. With the spirit of gotong royong, this action is expected to inspire other communities to carry out similar activities in their respective places of worship.
The Clean Mosque Action was then closed with a group photo session as a form of documentation and a symbol of togetherness in maintaining the cleanliness of houses of worship. With this activity, it is hoped that the spirit of concern for mosque cleanliness will increase, especially in welcoming the month of Ramadan, where the mosque will be the center of various Muslim worship activities.
