YOGYAKARTA — Eid al-Adha is a solemn moment for Muslims around the world. Behind this moment, apart from performing the sacrifice ritual, they are also faced with the challenge of managing sacrificial meat in a healthy and wise manner.
In line with this issue, the Free Health Service (LKC) of Dompet Dhuafa Yogyakarta took the initiative to hold a health education activity titled “Healthy Sacrificial Meat Menu for the Elderly, a Healthy Solution for All.” The activity was held on Wednesday (04/06/2025) in the Madaya area, Pundong, Yogyakarta.
“The event began with health check-ups, followed by a cooking demonstration. The cooking demonstration aims to educate the elderly who will be preparing their sacrificial meat during Eid al-Adha on how to process it in a healthy, proper, and safe manner, while also ensuring it is nutrient-rich,” explained Syifa Rizki Amelia, Head of LKC Dompet Dhuafa Yogyakarta.

After the cooking demonstration, participants had the opportunity to taste the dishes that had been prepared. With over 70 attendees, the event successfully generated great enthusiasm and provided new insights into the importance of maintaining a healthy diet, especially during the Eid al-Adha holiday.
“We also provided health education to the elderly and distributed leaflets containing health information and recipes that can be applied at home,” added Syifa.
The event was supported by health volunteers who helped prepare and ensure the smooth running of the event, ensuring that all activities went smoothly so that participants could make the most of the event.

The event became even more exciting with an interactive session, where the LKC Dompet Dhuafa Yogyakarta team posed questions to the participants. Those who answered correctly received attractive door prizes to take home.
“It’s wonderful to have this activity with LKC Dompet Dhuafa. We, the women here, feel more motivated and have learned how to prepare meat properly and deliciously. Additionally, we were able to undergo health check-ups here,” said Suwartimah (70), one of the elderly participants.

In addition to Suwartimah, Sanggup (63) also expressed his joy, as the activity provided him with new insights into how to process goat meat.
“Through this activity, I feel that the cells in our bodies have become more active, and we are very happy to have participated. We hope that events like this can continue to be held and that there will be even more activities in the future,” he said.
Through this activity, Dompet Dhuafa hopes to make a tangible contribution in preparing the community to celebrate Eid al-Adha in a healthier way, ensuring that meat processing is not only delicious but also safe and beneficial for overall health. (Dompet Dhuafa)
