TUNISIA – A new chapter in history will be written by the Indonesian people in the humanitarian struggle for Palestine. A total of 33 volunteers from Indonesia are preparing to sail to Gaza with the Global Sumud Flotilla, a global humanitarian movement involving 44 countries. Two of these volunteers are from Dompet Dhuafa, who have consistently been at the forefront of humanitarian solidarity actions.
The fleet’s departure was originally scheduled for September 4, 2025. However, due to technical constraints from the Spanish contingent, the voyage will now begin on September 7, 2025. This delay has not dampened the spirits of the volunteers, who have prepared themselves for a long and risky journey to break through the Israeli blockade of Gaza.

The coordinator of the Indonesia Global Peace Convoy (IGPC), Hussein Gaza, said on Thursday (09/14/2025) local time that Indonesia is fully committed to this global mission by sending five ships that are ready to depart. This makes Indonesia one of the countries with the largest contributions. The ships are symbolically named after Indonesian national heroes.
This step is not only a tribute to the heroes’ services, but also a message to the world that the struggle for Palestinian independence is part of the universal struggle for justice and humanity. Just as Indonesian heroes fought against colonialism, that spirit is now being carried to the global stage through humanitarian missions.

“We ask the Indonesian people to help raise awareness of this issue so that it spreads widely. This is a great hope that involves many countries, many nations, many people, to oversee this movement so that our goals can be achieved, and our brothers and sisters in Palestine can truly be free,” he exclaimed.
Dompet Dhuafa, as a humanitarian organization actively supporting the Palestinian people’s struggle, has carried out various humanitarian response actions in Palestine, ranging from distributing medical aid, food, and logistics to international advocacy campaigns.

The head of Dompet Dhuafa, Ahmad Juwaini, emphasized his organization’s commitment to this humanitarian mission. According to him, Dompet Dhuafa will continue to support and oversee this movement to ensure that aid reaches Gaza, thereby breaking the blockade imposed by Zionist Israel. He also reminded everyone that the support of the Indonesian people is not only material.
“We invite the public to participate in supporting this cause by spreading information about this action and donating so that the humanitarian struggle in Palestine can continue,” he said.

Given the high risks that volunteers on board the ships may face, Dompet Dhuafa and Indonesia Global Peace Convoy (IGPC) call on the Indonesian government, particularly the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Indonesian embassies in the countries concerned, to provide maximum protection.
This joint international action with the Global Sumud Flotilla carries an international advocacy mission to break the blockade of Gaza that has been going on for more than a decade. With the involvement of 44 countries and 72 ships, this movement is expected to become a symbol of world unity against the injustice and genocide experienced by the Palestinian people.
The main objective is to open up humanitarian aid channels to Gaza on a large scale. The hope is that after the success of this action, humanitarian aid from various parts of the world can enter without hindrance, and even more importantly, the world will be more open to defending humanity in Palestine.
