JAKARTA – After officially sending off Indonesian humanitarian volunteers who are part of the Global Sumud Flotilla on Friday (August 29, 2025), Dompet Dhuafa is once again strengthening its role in the Palestinian people’s struggle. Today, Tuesday (September 2, 2025), the humanitarian organization dispatched a special humanitarian team to directly oversee the delivery of aid to the people of Gaza, Palestine.
Ahmad Juwaini, Chairman of Dompet Dhuafa, led the action. He was accompanied by Dompet Dhuafa’s GM of Health, Dr. Yeni Purnamasari, and Dompet Dhuafa’s Marketing Communication Manager, Dedi Fadlil. In addition, two national journalists also participated: Dwi Nardi Rusdi (Kompas TV) and Rizki Baiquni Pratama (Kumparan.com).
They departed from Jakarta to Tunisia, an important point for the departure of humanitarian ships to Gaza. Tunisia will also be the gathering place for leaders of humanitarian organizations around the world. Dompet Dhuafa’s presence at this international forum is a strategic moment to strengthen solidarity among nations in fighting for the rights and independence of the Palestinian people.

Meanwhile, there are two other volunteers who have already left for Tunisia to undergo special training. These two volunteers will later join the humanitarian ship carrying aid to Gaza, Palestine. Thus, in this action, which is part of the Indonesia Global Peace Convoy (IGPC), Dompet Dhuafa is sending seven representatives who will carry the great mandate of the Indonesian people.
IGPC is a humanitarian movement coordinated by Sumud Nusantara. IGPC-Sumud Nusantara itself is part of the Global Sumud Flotilla, a global humanitarian movement comprising 44 countries deploying 72 ships to break through Israel’s blockade of Gaza.
Indonesia, in this case Sumud Nusantara, has prepared eight humanitarian fleets to be deployed on this mission to Gaza. These fleets will sail to Gaza via the Mediterranean Sea, with the main objective of breaking through the Israeli blockade that has for years prevented humanitarian aid from reaching the Palestinian people.
“This is what the community has entrusted to Dompet Dhuafa. It is not just material goods, but also a symbol, a token of solidarity and shared hope to defend Palestine,” said Ahmad, emphasizing the mandate carried out by his institution.

Meanwhile, participating journalists will report directly on every development of the mission, so that the people of Indonesia and the world receive accurate information about this humanitarian struggle. He also advised the Indonesian people to actively voice their support and spread the word about this action.
“We invite the Indonesian people to not only pray and give their support, but also to help spread the word about these humanitarian actions so that the world knows that Palestine is not alone,” said one of the journalists in his message.
Before departure, Dompet Dhuafa held a “Tausiah, Zikir, and Prayer for the Country” event. This event served as a space for collective prayer for the safety of the volunteers, the smooth running of the mission to Gaza, and the well-being of the Indonesian people. Prayers were offered for the struggle in Palestine to receive Allah SWT’s help and yield tangible results.

After the aid was delivered, two Dompet Dhuafa volunteers remained on the ship heading to Gaza, while the others continued their journey to Jordan, where many Palestinian refugees are located. At the refugee camp, Dompet Dhuafa will meet with the Palestinian people, deliver aid, and convey the message that the Indonesian people will always stand with them in this long struggle.
The Global Sumud Flotilla mission, which Dompet Dhuafa is participating in, is not only about delivering aid and hope.
More than that, its main objective is to break through and open the blockade of Gaza imposed by Israel, as well as to advocate at the global level. The hope is that once the blockade is lifted, the distribution channels for humanitarian aid will be broader and more sustainable, and that the world community will be moved to defend humanity in Palestine.
This step continues Dompet Dhuafa’s long track record of helping Palestine. This institution has several times sent ambulance fleets to Gaza, distributed food packages, and provided emergency health services to victims of Israeli Zionist aggression. Now, by participating in the IGPC–Sumud Nusantara–Global Sumud Flotilla, Dompet Dhuafa is expanding its role to the global humanitarian diplomacy forum.
In addition, Dompet Dhuafa wants to show that the struggle for humanity knows no national boundaries. From Indonesia, a message of solidarity is sent to the world. Come on!
